Ryan Preece raced twice at Auto Club for JTG Daugherty Racing with two very nondescript results (23rd and 30th). He did not finish on the lead lap either time. Now, Preece starts 27th on Sunday in the Stewart-Haas Racing Ford. The No. 41 car got collected in one of the late crashes at Daytona last week. Does a faster car help Preece more than expected? The answer remains unknown. Now, what is known is that Preece tested pretty well at Fontana and at a two-mile intermediate might thrive on Sunday.
