Rays Sign Billy Hamilton To Minor-League Deal
1 year agoThe Tampa Bay Rays are signing speedy outfielder Billy Hamilton to a minor-league deal on Wednesday, according to a source. Hamilton last played on July 7 for the Chicago White Sox's Triple-A affiliate because of a right-shoulder injury, so he's going to need a little bit of time to ramp up after he was released last week. He played in only three games at the big-league level for the White Sox this year and struggled at Triple-A Charlotte to the tune of a .147/.261/.253 slash line with a home run, three doubles, one triple, four RBI, three stolen bases and 14 runs scored in 28 games played. At best, Hamilton will provide some speed as a late-game pinch-runner if he makes it back to the majors before the end of the season.
