Pirates Place Andrew McCutchen On 10-Day Injured List
1 year agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates placed outfielder/designated hitter Andrew McCutchen (elbow) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to July 6) on Friday and also recalled first baseman Ji Man Choi (Achilles) from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. To make room for Choi on the 40-man roster, the Bucs activated left-hander Rob Zastryzny (forearm) from the 15-day IL and designated him for assignment. McCutchen continues to struggle with a right-elbow injury, and he'll take some time off going into the All-Star break after going hitless in his last 17 at-bats over four games. McCutchen has been useful in mixed fantasy leagues in 2023 with 10 homers and nine stolen bases in 74 games. Choi is serving as the DH on Friday should see regular at-bats against right-handed pitchers now that he's back and both McCutchen and Ke'Bryan Hayes (knee) are on the shelf.
