Pirates Discussing Extensions For Joe Musgrove, Others
5 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates have approached starting pitcher Joe Musgrove, outfielder Bryan Reynolds, shortstop Kevin Newman and third base prospect Ke'Bryan Hayes about contract extensions, according to sources. Hayes, the team's No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has yet to play in the major leagues, so agreeing to a contract extension would ensure him a spot on the Opening Day roster, if not the starting third base gig. The 23-year-old should make his MLB debut in 2020, though, and should be owned in all dynasty/keeper leagues. Reynolds, who was a nice surprise in his rookie season in 2019, is the most attractive of this group in standard mixed leagues, going on average as the 174th pick in drafts.
