Texas Rangers relief pitcher Phil Maton picked up his third save of the season and his first with his new team in Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Yankees. Maton came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning up by two. He allowed a leadoff single but induced a ground-ball double play and ended the game with a strikeout. Robert Garcia (back) has seen the majority of save opportunities for the Rangers lately, but he exited last Saturday's game with back spasms and has not pitched since. Maton is one of several relievers who could see save opportunities in the interim, and no one player has held down the role of closer for long with the Rangers this season. He has pitched well, earning 21 holds with a 2.18 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and an 11.10 K/9 rate in 41 1/3 innings of work.--Connelly Doan
