Houston Astros right-hander Hayden Wesneski won't make his next start until potentially early next week in Milwaukee against the Brewers. Wesneski will have extra time between starts with right-hander Lance McCullersread more...

Houston Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (forearm) will make his 2025 season debut on Sunday in Chicago against the White Sox, according to the Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara. It's an excellent matchup for his season debut, but fantasy managers need to remember that this will be McCullers' first big-league start since the World Series in 2022. The 31-year-old veteran started facing live hitters back in February and posted a 2.84 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 16 strikeouts and six walks in four minor-league rehab starts over 12 2/3 innings with Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Sugar Land. He threw five scoreless innings over 71 pitches in his final rehab start last Saturday, so he should be built up to go fairly deep this weekend. McCullers was fantasy relevant in all leagues before his forearm injuries set in, but his upside could be limited as the Astros handle him carefully.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Houston Chronicle - Matt Kawahara

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo and infielder/outfielder Pavin Smith will both start on the bench on Wednesday against the hosting New York Mets. It will be Perdomo's first day off this season. Garrett Hampson is starting at the 6 and batting ninth, while Randal Grichuk will serve as the designated hitter and bat third against Mets right-hander Huascar Brazoban. Left-hander Brandon Waddell is scheduled for a bulk-relief role, which is why Arizona is resting both Perdomo and Smith, who both hit left-handed. Perdomo has struggled of late, going 5-for-36 with a homer, two doubles, two RBI, three steals, si walks and six K's in his last nine games. Smith has been hot in the first month, slashing .347/.478/.639 with four homers, nine RBI and 16 runs scored. Grichuk has a hit in just two career at-bats against Brazoban.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (illness) remains out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citi Field. Nimmo had a career day with two home runs and a whopping nine RBI in Monday's victory over the D-backs but then came down with an illness and is sitting out a second straight game. Fantasy managers will have to check back to see if the 32-year-old veteran is feeling good enough to play in Thursday's series finale. Jeff McNeil will start in left field on Wednesday and bat sixth against Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes. McNeil got off to a late start this year due to an oblique injury and has gone 4-for-12 with a homer and three RBI in his first three games. He's hit .267 with a homer and two RBI in 15 career at-bats against Burnes but will be a poor DFS choice in this matchup on Wednesday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller (back) said that his back "locked up" on him before his outing on Tuesday against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels to the point where he opted not to sit down between innings and make it worse. In addition to his back injury, Miller dealt with arm soreness earlier in April. "One thing after another that hasn't been major, but just been nagging," Miller said. The 26-year-old was still able to work five scoreless innings in the win over the Halos on Tuesday for his second win of the season, although he walked a season-high five batters and struck out six. Miller will remain a must-start in fantasy in his next scheduled outing next Monday against the division-rival Athletics, but his health will be worth watching closely. In his first six starts in 2025, Miller has gone 2-3 with a 3.52 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 31:19 K:BB in 30 2/3 innings pitched.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com - Daniel Kramer

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford is hitting in the leadoff spot for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels and left-hander Tyler Anderson at T-Mobile Park. Crawford has made it all the way up to leadoff this week after hitting in the nine-hole in his first 26 starts of 2025. The Mariners moved him up to sixth the previous two games. The 30-year-old veteran has earned the move up the batting order, as he carries an eight-game hitting streak into Wednesday's finale against the Halos. During the streak, he's gone 12-for-29 with two home runs, eight RBI, seven runs scored and five walks to raise his season line to .279/.415/.372 in 108 plate appearances. It remains to be seen how long Crawford will get run in the top spot, but it will make him more attractive in DFS on Wednesday, even against a lefty. He's hit .273 with two RBI in 11 career at-bats against Anderson.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

The Houston Astros have placed relief pitcher Bryan Abreu on the paternity list. As a result, AJ Blubaugh will take his spot on the roster. Through the early part of the campaign, Abreu has been deployed in his typical setup role in front of the ninth-inning option, Josh Hader. Across 13 innings of work, Abreu has held a strong 2.08 ERA with a 1.46 WHIP. Abreu has tallied nine holds and struck out 18 batters. Under the hood, he generated an elite 2.9 percent barrel rate while generating whiffs at a strong 34.0 percent rate. While he is sidelined for the time being, Taylor Scott, Bryan King, or Kaleb Ort should see time in the eighth inning. When he is cleared to return, Abreu will remain a top option in leagues that reward holds, given his high strikeout potential.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Houston Astros

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Taylor Ward is getting his first day off on Wednesday afternoon when the Angels face the Seattle Mariners. Ward has gone 0-for-13 with a 5:2 K:BB over his last four games and will get a day to reset. As a result, Gustavo Campero will get the nod in left field and bat in the seven-hole. Infielder Zach Neto will move up to the leadoff spot with Ward sitting out. However, before this slump, Ward held a modest .231/.259/.577 slash line with three doubles and five home runs over his last 13 games. Fantasy managers should expect Ward to return to the starting nine on Thursday when they begin a series against the Detroit Tigers. This afternoon, the Angels are worth targeting in DFS, facing the Mariners, who will send Emerson Hancock to the mound, who enters this game with a 7.71 ERA.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

The Toronto Blue Jays are promoting left-handed pitcher Eric Lauer from Triple-A Buffalo prior to their contest on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox. Lauer was slated to start for Triple-A this evening. Fantasy managers should monitor his status leading up to this game as he may be given the starting nod or could be deployed in a bulk relief role. Through 24 innings at Triple-A this season, the left-hander has held a modest 4.50 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP. During this stint, he has struck out 21 batters and served up six free passes. Last season, Lauer spent time in Milwaukee and logged a high 6.56 ERA and a 1.67 WHIP across 46 2/3 innings of work. He generated a 7.54 xERA with a .307 xBA, which were both in the first percentile. If he gets the starting nod, he should not be targeted in DFS formats.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Shi Davidi

The Seattle Mariners have placed first baseman/outfielder Luke Raley (oblique) on the 10-day injured list retroactive to April 28. The 30-year-old suffered this injury earlier in the week and was held out of action during Tuesday's contest. In a corresponding move, the Mariners promoted outfielder Rhylan Thomas from Triple-A Tacoma. Through the first 24 games of the regular season, Raley has posted a .206/.345/.324 slash line with two doubles, two home runs, eight RBI, two stolen bases, and a 20:10 K:BB. However, under the hood, Raley has generated an impressive .373 xwOBA with a 14.3 percent barrel rate, which are both well above the average marks, which suggests he should see positive regression when he returns to action. While he is sidelined, Thomas and Samad Taylor should see time in right field.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Seattle Mariners

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing for the next 10-14 days. Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injured list on Monday due to right shoulder inflammation. Fantasy managers should monitor his status, but it appears the hard-throwing right-hander will miss a significant period of time. Before his injury, Glasnow held a 4.50 ERA with a 1.28 WHIP across 18 innings of work. However, most of his damage came on April 6 when he allowed five runs and five walks across two innings of work against the Phillies. Despite his extensive injury history, when on the bump, Glasnow has flashed elite upside. Fantasy managers should continue to stash him on their injured reserve. While he is sidelined, Matt Sauer should see more opportunities in the rotation.--Andy Smith - RotoBallerSource: Sonja Chen
