Cleveland Guardians second baseman/shortstop Brayan Rocchio stepped up as an unlikely hero on Monday night, providing his team with a critical two-run homer in their 3-1 win in Arizona. His two-run blast came in the fifth inning against Zac Gallen and was just his third homer of the season. He has hit .237 with a .280 wOBA, which will establish a new career best if he can maintain it through the end of the season. In August, Rocchio is hitting .315 with a pair of homers and a .355 wOBA. Normally known for his defense, the 24-year-old is starting to be a middle-infield option in mixed leagues with his strong performance this month. The Guardians are three games back of the three teams tied for the three Wild Card spots, and they'll be counting on young hitters like Rocchio to step up as they try to stay in the playoff race down the stretch.--Zach ThompsonSource: ESPN.com

Cleveland Guardians first baseman/outfielder C.J. Kayfus hit his second homer in the majors on Monday night to help the Guardians claim a 3-1 victory in their series opener against the Diamondbacks. Kayfus started the scoring with his home run off Zac Gallen in the second inning and finished the game 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI. Kayfus is hitting .239 with his two homers, two stolen bases, and a .319 wOBA in his 15 games in the majors. Before his promotion, he hit .300 in 86 games in the minors, totaling 14 homers, four stolen bases, and a .408 wOBA between Double-A and Triple-A. The 23-year-old has been splitting time between first base and the outfield and is looking to establish himself as a key part of the Guardians' young core going forward. He has decent power upside and a little speed, and he could emerge as a strong mixed league pickup if he keeps trending up down the stretch.--Zach ThompsonSource: ESPN.com

Washington Nationals second-round pick Ethan Petry is off to a strong start in pro ball, slashing .375/.464/.583 with two doubles and a homer through his first six games at Single-A Fredericksburg. The 21-year-old has struck out in 32.1% of plate appearances, but his loud contact and raw power are already flashing against minor league pitching. Ranked as the club's No. 8 prospect, Petry offers intriguing upside with outfield and first base versatility. Dynasty managers should keep tabs on his early development, as his power could make him a fast-rising name in the Nationals' farm system.--Shaun AlbinSource: Federal Baseball

Arizona Diamondbacks pitching prospect Daniel Eagen has been promoted to Double-A after earning Northwest League Player of the Week honors. The 6'4" right-hander owns a fastball touching 96 mph with a sharp curve and mid-80s slider. In 19 starts at High-A, Eagen delivered a 2.49 ERA, 34.1% strikeout rate, and 10.6% walk rate. A 2024 third-round pick out of Presbyterian College, Eagen is quickly becoming a dynasty name to monitor. His swing-and-miss arsenal gives him mid-rotation upside, and continued success could push him onto the fast track toward Arizona.--Shaun AlbinSource: Alex D'Agostino

Athletics second baseman Zack Gelof has caught fire at the plate, belting seven home runs over his last six games for Triple-A Las Vegas. He was named PCL Player of the Week after going 8-for-22 with seven homers, four stolen bases, and 11 RBI. Gelof returned to the Aviators on July 18 following the A's activation of Luis Urias, and he's wasted no time proving his bat is still MLB-ready. With roster expansion looming in a couple of weeks, Gelof is a strong candidate for a call-up and makes for an intriguing fantasy stash entering of the playoffs.--Shaun AlbinSource: Minor League Baseball

New York Mets shortstop prospect Elian Pena showcased his power potential on Monday, clubbing three home runs in a Dominican Summer League contest. The 17-year-old now has nine long balls across 54 games this season, while slashing .299/.423/.540 with 21 stolen bases. Signed for $5 million out of the international market this past offseason, Pena is quickly justifying the investment with his blend of pop and speed. The Mets view him as a cornerstone piece in their system, and dynasty managers should keep a close eye on his development.--Shaun AlbinSource: milb.com

San Francisco Giants closer Randy Rodriguez picked up his fourth save of the season in Monday's 4-3 win over the Padres. Rodriguez came in to pitch the bottom of the ninth inning up by one. He got the first out on a ground-out, allowed a single, and got the final two outs on a pop-out and a fly-out. The 25-year-old has had a bit of a rocky transition to the closer's role after the team traded Camilo Doval at the trade deadline, allowing three earned runs in 4 2/3 innings of work. However, he has converted three of four save opportunities in that time and has a stellar 1.63 ERA, a 0.89 WIHP, and an 11.96 K/9 rate in 49 2/3 IP this season. The Giants are not in as competitive a position as they were earlier in the season, but Rodriguez should have opportunities to provide fantasy value down the stretch.--Connelly DoanSource: MLB.com

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Tyler O'Neill (wrist) started baseball activities, including throwing, on Monday and was almost pain-free, per MASN's Roch Kubatko. O'Neill was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to August 6 with right wrist inflammation. The 30-year-old said he wasn't sure if he would be ready to return on his September 1 date or if he would need a rehab assignment. As throughout his career, O'Neill has made three trips to the IL this season, each for a different injury. Perhaps it has been the numerous injuries, but O'Neill hasn't gotten things going offensively this season, slashing .210/.293/.434 with eight home runs, 23 RBI, and two stolen bases in 164 plate appearances.--Connelly DoanSource: Roch Kubatko - X.com

Los Angeles Angels manager Ray Montgomery said Monday that outfielder Jorge Soler (back) will continue to receive testing after being placed on the injured list for lower back inflammation. This is the 33-year-old's second stint on the IL this season due to back issues. Montgomery said that Soler does not have a timetable for his return, but he is staying optimistic that he will return at some point this season. Soler is running out of time to return and have a fantasy impact. He was in the midst of a down offensive season before going on the IL, slashing .215/.293/.387 with 12 home runs and 34 RBI in 315 plate appearances. 26-year-old Bryce Teodosio should continue to see playing time in Soler's absence. Teodosio showed high batting average, power, and speed skills in his time with Triple-A Salt Lake, so he could be worth a look in deep five-outfielder leagues.--Connelly DoanSource: Thomas Murray - The Sporting Tribune

Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone (wrist/hand) exited Monday's 12-7 loss to the Phillies after getting hit by a pitch in his right wrist/hand in the seventh inning. He stayed in to run the bases but was replaced defensively in the eighth inning by Luke Raley. Canzone went 1-for-2 with a single and a strikeout before exiting. Fortunately, he said after the game that X-rays were negative, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. The 28-year-old has been a surprise contributor when in the lineup this season, slashing .289/.348/.456 with seven home runs, 20 RBI, and two stolen bases in 198 plate appearances.--Connelly DoanSource: Daniel Kramer - X.com

Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland (finger) exited Monday's 4-3 win over the Dodgers with a blister on his pitching hand, per MLB's Manny Randhawa. Freeland made it through four innings, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. He came out to warm up for the fifth inning but was ultimately relieved by Jaden Hill. Fantasy managers should look for more news in the coming days, but blisters have proven pesky for numerous pitchers over the last several seasons. Freeland has provided valuable innings for the Rockies this season but has offered limited fantasy production, going 3-12 with a 5.16 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and a 6.36 K/9 in 23 starts and 120 1/3 innings. His next scheduled start would be a favorable matchup at the Pirates if he were able to take the mound.--Connelly DoanSource: Manny Randhawa - X.com

Chicago White Sox third baseman/shortstop Colson Montgomery (side) exited Monday's 13-9 win over the Braves early due to left side soreness, per the team's official X account. Montgomery went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout before being replaced defensively in the sixth inning. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for further details and should pay attention to Tuesday's lineup. The 23-year-old, who was a former fantasy prospect, has shown plenty of power upside but also high strikeout liability since getting called up at the beginning of July, slashing .220/.285/.492 with 10 home runs, 28 RBI, and a 29.0% strikeout rate in 145 plate appearances.--Connelly DoanSource: Chicago White Sox - X.com

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman (hand) took grounders on Monday and will hit on the field on Wednesday, reports Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News. He was only placed on the 10-day injured list three days ago with right hand inflammation, so it's encouraging to see that he is already doing on-field work. The 32-year-old's injured list stint retroactively dates back to August 13, which means he is eligible to return to the major league roster as early as Saturday. No official timetable has been given, but it appears he should be able to return next week at the latest if everything goes smoothly.--Jeremy HeistSource: Justice delos Santos
