Jordan Westburg Appears to Have Avoided Serious Injury
Jordan Westburg (ankle) left Monday night's game against the Red Sox with an ankle injury that he sustained trying to get back to first base early in the game. After the game, interim manager Tony Mansolino said the team believes the injury to be mild but will know more on Tuesday after seeing how his ankle responds overnight. Westburg was replaced by Luis Vazquez, who went 1-for-4 with a run scored. Westburg may be able to avoid the injury list, although the Orioles don't have much reason to push the 26-year-old since they're out of the playoff race. In his limited action this season, he has produced a .277/.327/.475 slash line with 15 home runs, 34 RBI, and 53 runs scored in 72 games played. If he is forced to miss time, Vazquez and Jeremiah Jackson would be the top candidates to get more playing time. Westburg has been heating up lately, so losing him from the lineup would be a significant blow to the Orioles. Check back for more updates as a timeframe is clarified later on Tuesday.
