Erik Jones used to be known for his Bristol prowess in his early years driving for Furniture Row Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing, where he scored four top fives in his first eight races before Gibbs fired him. However, in his years in the No. 43 car particularly with the Next Gen car, he has never seemed to have much speed as all his finishes were between 20th and 30th and he looked equally disappointing at most other short tracks. Even in the epic 2024 spring race which had 16 different leaders, Jones wasn't one of them and he hasn't led here since his JGR years. He has had an increase in speed recently, but despite his slight resurgence, he still hasn't been very fast on short tracks. He's maybe worthy of a little consideration since he starts 27th and only costs $6,300, but it's hard to be convinced he'll suddenly have short track speed tonight.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

Boston Red Sox right-handed reliever Liam Hendriks (hip, forearm) has been shut down with forearm tightness, making it unlikely that he'll return this season. Hendriks has been on the IL since late May with inflammation in his right hip, but he had been rehabbing in hopes of returning this year. Assuming Hendriks is done for 2025, he'll finish with a 6.59 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 12:7 K:BB in 13 2/3 innings. Hendriks' forearm issues are especially ominous after he missed all of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. However, the soon-to-be 37-year-old "very much" wants to continue his career in 2026. "I got a new elbow for a reason," said Hendriks, who's set to become a free agent in the offseason.--Connor Byrne

Lame-duck Trackhouse Racing driver Daniel Suárez starts a miserable 35th at Bristol on Saturday, and since he costs only $6,000 on DraftKings DFS, he theoretically could be a cheap option to score a lot of place-differential points, but his consistent lack of speed in qualifying here has also typically been reflected in the race. Although Suárez often had speed in the Bristol dirt race, on pavement, he has never finished fewer than two laps down since the 2020 spring event, where he surprisingly finished 18th on the lead lap for Gaunt Brothers Racing. Trackhouse has typically been slow on short tracks, so since then, its best driver rating has been 54.8 in 2022, which only ranked 21st overall. Despite how poorly he qualified, starting him may be too big a risk, even for place-differential points.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

Noah Gragson had his only decent run at Bristol in last year's night race when he finished 12th and had an average running position of 14th, but that was when he drove for Stewart Haas Racing, a team which tended to have a lot more short track speed than his new team Front Row Motorsports. Although Michael McDowell had a string of decent runs here, the only other driver who really showed anything for FRM was Chris Buescher in the 2016 night race and the team has only scored a grand total of three top tens here. With Gragson starting 30th and seemingly having regressed significantly from last year, it's hard to imagine him having enough speed to seriously contend, but given his poor starting position and cheap $5,800 salary on DFS, he may be worth considering anyway.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

New York Yankees designated hitter/outfielder Giancarlo Stanton isn't in the lineup against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday. Aaron Judge will DH and hit third versus right-hander Brayan Bello, Cody Bellinger will play right field and bat cleanup, and Jasson Dominguez will man left and occupy the No. 6 spot in the order. Stanton will take a seat amid an early September slump. The 35-year-old has gone just 5-for-33 (.152) in nine games this month, though he has clubbed three home runs. Stanton has 20 homers in 231 plate appearances this season, and he owns a strong .272/.348/.592 line with 49 RBI and 31 runs scored.--Connor Byrne

Cincinnati Bengals kicker Evan McPherson made his only kick attempt, a 35-yarder, in the Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns. He also made both extra-point attempts. The Bengals offense had issues getting anything going in the opener, with quarterback Joe Burrow tossing for 113 yards off a miserable 14-for-23 passing (60.9%). Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins also struggled, combining for five receptions. With that in mind, a poor offensive showing in divisional matchups hasn't been that uncommon for Cincy over the years, so there's reason to believe a turnaround for Burrow and company could be on the horizon. If the signal-caller can lead the offense into the Red Zone more often than he did against the Browns (there's a good chance he will), McPherson should be more productive in Week 2, making him a practical choice for any fantasy lineup.--Dennis Clausen

Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com speculates that Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins will "get about a dozen carries" in his NFL debut against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. Twelve carries might be a bigger workload for Judkins than some were expecting, considering that the rookie missed all of training camp and has only had two practices with the team to this point. The Browns split carries in Week 1 between Dylan Sampson, Jerome Ford, and Raheim Sanders and were ineffective running the ball, averaging just two yards per rush attempt as a team. If Judkins logs double-digit touches on Sunday, he could become a viable fantasy starter sooner rather than later in 2025.--Will Brady

Detroit Tigers infielder/outfielder Javier Baez (head) is absent from Saturday's lineup against Miami Marlins right-hander Janson Junk. Zach McKinstry will take over at short and bat ninth in place of Baez, who left the Tigers' 8-2 loss to the Marlins on Friday after fouling a ball off his forehead in the second inning. Baez isn't in concussion protocol, however, and is considered day-to-day. The 32-year-old has played in six games this month and gone an ice-cold 2-for-16 with a triple, an RBI, and four strikeouts. He's hitting .256/.284/.400 with 11 homers, 52 RBI, 53 runs, and five steals in 410 plate appearances this season.--Connor Byrne

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers (knee) is practicing on Saturday after being held out on both Thursday and Friday, per ESPN's Ryan McFadden. Bowers was forced to leave Las Vegas' Week 1 win over the New England Patriots due to a knee injury. His status for Week 2 remains up in the air, but it's a positive sign that he was able to take the field on Saturday. The Raiders play on Monday night against the Los Angeles Chargers, so fantasy managers may be faced with a difficult choice if Bowers' status for Monday is not confirmed before the majority of teams take the field on Sunday. If Bowers can play, he's a must-start fantasy tight end in all formats.--Will Brady

Miami Marlins second baseman Xavier Edwards (wrist) has been scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Detroit Tigers because of discomfort in his right wrist, according to Isaac Azout of Fish On First. Edwards had been slated to lead off versus right-hander Charlie Morton. The Marlins haven't released an updated lineup yet. The speedy Edwards has played in 129 games this season and hit .280/.339/.353 with three homers, 39 RBI, a career-high 73 runs scored, and 24 stolen bases over 582 plate appearances. He has gone 7-for-34 (.206) with a homer, five RBI, five runs, and 7:4 K:BB in nine games this month.--Connor Byrne

Chicago Bears rookie running back Kyle Monangai has "earned the faith" of the Bears coaches, according to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic. Monangai did not record a carry in Chicago's Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, but Bears head coach Ben Johnson said that he needs to call more run plays in future games. Bears RB1 D'Andre Swift struggled to be efficient against Minnesota, averaging just 3.1 yards per carry. Monangai does not appear to be a serious threat to Swift in the short term. Still, he could be a late-season breakout candidate for fantasy managers to monitor if Chicago continues to struggle to move the ball on the ground.--Will Brady

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran will sit out Saturday against New York Yankees left-hander Max Fried. Rob Refsnyder will take Duran's place in left field and hit cleanup. While the lefty-swinging Duran has enjoyed another productive season this year, he hasn't posed much of a threat against same-handed pitchers. Southpaws have limited him to a weak .209/.255/.326 line in 201 trips to the plate. The right-handed Refsnyder, on the other hand, has handled lefties throughout his career, and he has slashed an excellent .312/.398/.587 over 128 plate appearances against them this season.--Connor Byrne

Tests on Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal (side) came back negative on Saturday, and he's expected to make his next start, Chris McCosky of the Detroit News reports. This is a huge sigh of relief for the Tigers and fantasy managers after Skubal exited a loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday with pain near his left rib cage. The superstar left-hander had to come out after throwing just 3 2/3 innings and allowing four runs. As of now, he's scheduled to make his next start against the division-rival Cleveland Guardians on Thursday. Skubal has absolutely dominated the Guardians this year, having fired 16 scoreless innings with five hits allowed, 23 strikeouts, and no walks in two starts.--Connor Byrne

Boston Red Sox infielder Romy Gonzalez (knee) is returning to the lineup on Saturday after a two-game absence. Gonzalez, who's riding a 12-game hitting streak, will play first base and lead off against New York Yankees left-hander Max Fried. It's Gonzalez's first time in the lineup since he exited a win over the Athletics on Tuesday with soreness in his left knee. The Red Sox will happily welcome the right-handed hitter back for a matchup against a tough lefty, as he has teed off on southpaws this season. Gonzalez owns an eye-popping .347/.396/.636 line over 134 trips to the plate versus lefties, and seven of his nine home runs have come at their expense.--Connor Byrne

Carolina Panthers left tackle Ikem Ekwonu (appendix) is expected to play in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Ekwonu missed Week 1 while recovering from an appendectomy. Ekwonu's replacement at left tackle in Week 1 was Yosh Nijman, who was graded as the 71st-best pass-blocker out of 82 qualified tackles by Pro Football Focus. Getting his blindside protector back on the field should help Panthers quarterback Bryce Young and the rest of the Carolina pass game, which had a miserable showing against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend.--Will Brady

Chicago Cubs designated hitter/outfielder Seiya Suzuki (illness) is out of the lineup on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Moises Ballesteros will serve as the Cubs' designated hitter and bat sixth versus right-hander Drew Rasmussen, while Owen Caissie will play right field and hit eighth. Suzuki is dealing with an illness that also kept him out of the Cubs' 6-4 win over the Rays on Friday. The 31-year-old has slashed .244/.324/.461 with 27 homers, 91 RBI, 69 runs scored, and five steals in 611 plate appearances, but his production has fallen off dramatically over the past couple of months. He has hit .204/.333/.269 with two HRs across 204 trips to the plate in the second half of the season.--Connor Byrne

Texas Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia (quad) is set to face live pitching this weekend. If he can complete both sessions without a setback, then he will be a candidate to return to the Rangers' outfield on Monday, September 15, when Texas begins a series in Houston against the Astros. It's worth noting that this potential return date is positioned to be later than a previous report, which suggested that the 32-year-old could be activated over the weekend. While a return early next week isn't a major delay, it is later than the previous timeline. When he does return, he will look to finish the season off on a positive note, as he has struggled to find much consistency at the plate this year. In 2025 so far, he has a .235/.277/.408 slash line with 18 home runs and 13 steals.--Dave Funnell - RotoBaller

San Francisco 49ers kicker Eddy Pineiro revealed that he had offers from at least two teams before signing with the Niners this past week. Pineiro acknowledged that he chose the 49ers over an offer from the Atlanta Falcons. While the veteran kicker did not explain his reasoning for the decision, it's likely because he was offered a 53-man roster spot with San Francisco, whereas Atlanta merely wanted to add him to the practice squad as competition for Younghoee Koo. The Falcons pivoted to John Parker Romo, who will now add some pressure on Koo going forward. As for Pineiro, the veteran kicker will be active for his 49ers debut on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. He owns an impressive 88.1 percent success rate on field goals through his five years in the NFL, which includes stints with the Bears, Jets, and Panthers. Pineiro has top-12 kicker upside in fantasy football, but scoring opportunities could be a little harder to come by with Brock Purdy (shoulder), George Kittle (hamstring), and Brandon Aiyuk (knee) sidelined. On the other hand, Mac Jones' drives may stall just over midfield, creating more long field goal opportunities for Pineiro. He's a solid streaming option in leagues with 12+ teams.--Andersen Pickard

The Dallas Cowboys have elevated wide receiver Ryan Flournoy from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday's Week 2 contest against the New York Giants. The 2024 sixth-round pick was active for the season opener, too, but he didn't register a target. As a rookie last year, the Southeast Missouri State product caught 10 of 14 targets for 102 yards. He's still searching for his first career NFL touchdown. It's unlikely to happen this week as Flournoy remains buried in a depth role behind players like CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Jalen Tolbert, and KaVontae Turpin.--Andersen Pickard

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (appendix) is hopeful to begin taking swings with a baseball bat in the near future. The 31-year-old has been cleared to have his progression sped up as he is now physically able to rotate his body. If he can successfully swing a bat, his next step would be to participate in a live batting practice session, which could then lead to a return before the end of the season. The team has targeted the Rangers' final homestand, which begins on September 19, as a potential goal to see him back in the lineup. Due to this sudden progression, and assuming all goes well without a setback, he remains someone who can be stashed on teams on the injured list with the possibility of a final week of potential production at the plate.--Dave Funnell - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Rams tight end Colby Parkinson (shoulder) is listed as doubtful to play in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. He missed all three practices this week while recovering from an AC joint sprain that he suffered last Sunday against the Houston Texans. Parkinson was actually able to finish last week's game after receiving medical attention, but evidently, the Rams aren't going to send him onto the field for Week 2. Instead, look for Terrance Ferguson to make his NFL debut in a tight end committee that also features Tyler Higbee and Davis Allen. None of these Rams tight ends can be trusted in fantasy football, but Ferguson is an intriguing stash in dynasty leagues.--Andersen Pickard

Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee is headed for another sizable snap share in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans, but his target share and overall productivity are far less certain. Higbee played 58 percent of the offensive snaps last week, and Los Angeles routinely rolled out two-tight end sets. However, he was not targeted in the victory. Furthermore, Los Angeles shared the wealth as Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen were both on the field for more than one-third of the offensive snaps, too. It's possible that we see a tight end committee for the rest of the season in Los Angeles, and rookie Terrance Ferguson should join the mix with Parkinson (shoulder) doubtful to play. With too much uncertainty here, all Los Angeles tight ends, including Higbee, can be left on waivers in redraft leagues.--Andersen Pickard

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Cole Ragans (shoulder) threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings during a rehab start on Friday night for Triple-A Omaha. Overall, he allowed just three batters to get on base, and he tossed 56 pitches overall, with 34 of them being thrown for strikes. This is his second straight solid rehab outing, as he continues to ramp up in an attempt to pitch again for the Royals before the end of the season. He will likely need at least one more start before possibly returning shortly after that. There is a chance that he can provide fantasy players with two starts before the season ends, making him someone to stash for the stretch run.--Dave Funnell - RotoBaller

Tampa Bay Buccaneers left tackle Tristan Wirfs (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 2 game against the Houston Texans. Wirfs underwent knee surgery during the offseason. He is inching closer toward returning, as evidenced by the Buccaneers keeping him on their initial 53-man roster, but today's news confirms he's not quite ready to play in a game yet. Charlie Heck will likely operate as the starting left tackle in Wirfs' absence. This represents a downgrade in the trenches as the Buccaneers work to protect Baker Mayfield's blindside. The talented passer ranks as a low-end QB1 this week versus the Texans, who surrendered two touchdowns to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1.--Andersen Pickard

New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe (shoulder) is unlikely to start any game during this weekend's series at Boston, as he is working on gaining strength in his injured shoulder. It was revealed earlier this week that the 24-year-old has been playing through a partially torn labrum for months. He recently had a cortisone shot injected into his ailing shoulder, with the hope and belief that he can play again this season. While there is a chance that he could be used off the bench, even that would be because of an emergency, said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. Volpe has had a disappointing season, sporting a .206/.266/.393 slash line this year, albeit with 19 home runs and 16 steals. It remains to be seen if and when he will be used down the stretch, and even when he does play, chances are his production takes a hit, given his ongoing injury. In his absence, Jose Caballero figures to get the bulk share of opportunities to play.--Dave Funnell - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams should rank as a mid-to-low WR2 in fantasy football this week against the Tennessee Titans. While Adams has WR1 upside every week, he might not reach his full potential this week given his matchup with Tennessee. With Los Angeles heavily favored to win, the Rams could choose to run the ball and drain the clock, resulting in fewer pass attempts. That's at least a little concerning for Adams, who is already competing for targets with Puka Nacua. Furthermore, Tennessee's pass defense is very respectable. The Titans' secondary intercepted Bo Nix twice last week and held Courtland Sutton to a modest six catches. Adams has the talent and role needed to be a fantasy starter in all leagues, but it's fair to have some questions about his ceiling given this week's matchup. Adams is best viewed as a WR2 this week.--Andersen Pickard

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua should rank as a mid-to-high WR2 in fantasy football this week against the Tennessee Titans. While Nacua has WR1 upside every week, he might not reach his full potential this week given his matchup with Tennessee. First of all, Los Angeles is heavily favored to win, which means that the Rams could choose to run the ball and drain the clock, resulting in fewer pass attempts. Furthermore, while Tennessee has plenty of weaknesses, its pass defense is not one of them. The Titans' secondary intercepted Bo Nix twice last week and held Courtland Sutton to a modest six catches. There's no doubt that Nacua will deliver enough volume and production to be a fantasy starter in all leagues, but his ceiling is a little lower this week given the matchup.--Andersen Pickard

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tutu Atwell could see his snap count continue to decline in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. During last week's season opener, Atwell, who was originally believed to be the team's No. 3 receiver, finished fourth among the position group in snap share (42 percent). He caught just one pass for four yards when all was said and done. To make matters worse, a portion of Atwell's snaps came when Puka Nacua was being evaluated for a concussion. With Nacua healthy, it's possible that Atwell plays even fewer snaps in Week 2. Plus, his productivity could suffer against a surprisingly solid Titans secondary that intercepted Bo Nix twice last week. Atwell is an intriguing waiver wire option if Nacua or Davante Adams suffer an injury, but for now, he should be left off your roster.--Andersen Pickard

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said that wide receiver Chris Godwin (ankle) will not play in Week 2 against the Houston Texans. Godwin is working his way back from a dislocated ankle that he suffered in Week 7 of 2024 and has since required multiple surgeries. The 29-year-old was able to return to the practice field this week, but was always considered a long shot to play in Week 2. In any fantasy leagues where Godwin is available, he should be stashed in an IR spot ahead of his pending return.--Will Brady

The New Orleans Saints are acquiring wide receiver Ja'Lynn Polk (shoulder) and a 2028 seventh-round pick from the New England Patriots for a 2027 sixth-round pick, per Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Polk is currently on season-ending Injured Reserve due to a shoulder issue, so this is a future-focused move for New Orleans. A second-round pick in 2024, Polk recorded just 12 catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games for New England as a rookie. He'll now get a chance at a fresh start with the Saints.--Will Brady
