Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers (knee) is officially listed as questionable for the Monday night meeting with the Chargers. The 22-year-old had five grabs for a team-high 103 yards in the Week 1 win over the New England Patriots before being ruled out because of a knee injury. He didn't practice on Thursday or Friday. However, Bowers was on the field on Saturday for a limited session. Head coach Pete Carroll expects him to be out there for the pivotal AFC West showdown. Still, fantasy managers may want to consider taking a cautious approach in case Bowers suffers an unexpected setback before then. This won't apply to those who have Michael Mayer stashed for insurance purposes, who can serve as a fantasy replacement if Bowers doesn't suit up. Mayer had 38 yards off four receptions against the Pats.--Dennis Clausen

Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Spencer Knight has put pen to paper for a three-year, $17.5 million contract extension. He has one year to run on his current contract. Knight is set to begin his first full season as a Blackhawk. The team acquired him in March from the Florida Panthers in a deal that sent defenseman Seth Jones in the opposite direction. The 24-year-old posted a 5-8-2 record in Chicago, allowing 3.12 goals with a .896 save percentage. He boasts a 49-33-9 career record in the NHL. While Knight did well with the Panthers, he found it much tougher with a struggling Blackhawks team. Still, the Blackhawks have high hopes for the Darien, Connecticut native, and Knight is seen as a "crucial piece" of the team's future, according to general manager Kyle Davidson.--Taavi Pailk

RFK Racing's Chris Buescher will start the Bass Pro Shops Night Race from 21st in this week's Cup Series race at Bristol. Buescher ended up being the lowest-qualifying driver of the three RFK entries in this week's race, but by only one position. In 17 Cup starts at Bristol, Buescher has one win, eight top-20 finishes, and an average finish of 18.6. In 28 Cup races this year, Buescher has 21 top-20 finishes and an average finish of 13.8. In practice for this week's race, Buescher ranked 34th in overall lap averages while ranking 18th in 20 consecutive lap averages. Buescher has historically been solid at Bristol and is one of the more consistent drivers in terms of finishing position this year. Although his practice speeds are not the best, history points to Buescher being a favorable DFS option this week for all formats, and his equipment is capable of competing for a top-15 finish.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Kings right wing Corey Perry (knee) has been ruled out for 6-8 weeks following surgery. The veteran forward, who turned 40 during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, injured his knee during a pre-training camp skate on Friday. Los Angeles begins its season on Oct. 7 against the Colorado Avalanche. Perry looks set to miss at least the first three weeks of the new campaign. Perry's knee injury is unfortunate for the Kings, but his absence is unlikely to impact fantasy hockey. Last season, Perry posted 30 points (19 goals, 11 assists) in 81 regular-season outings with the Edmonton Oilers.--Taavi Pailk

Miami Dolphins right tackle Austin Jackson (toe) is being placed on Injured Reserve, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Jackson injured his toe during his team's Week 1 loss to the Indianapolis Colts and will now miss at least the next four games for Miami. The Dolphins also lost guard James Daniels (pectoral) to Injured Reserve earlier this week, so the team's offensive line is in rough shape early in the season. Larry Borom appears set to take over as the blindside protector for Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.--Will Brady

Richard Childress Racing's Kyle Busch will start the Bass Pro Shops Night Race from the 32nd position after qualifying at Bristol Motor Speedway. This will mark Busch's lowest starting position at the site in his Cup career since August 2013, when he started from the 43rd position. Busch is one of the most accomplished drivers in NASCAR history at Bristol with eight wins, 19 top-10 finishes, and 2,597 laps led in 37 Cup starts. With 28 races completed this season, Busch has 17 top-20 finishes and an average finish of 17.9. In practice for this week's race, Busch ranked 13th in overall lap averages and as high as 26th in 20 consecutive lap averages. Busch has plenty of upside from his starting position, and although he has never scored a top-10 at Bristol while driving for RCR since joining them in 2023, he is in equipment that should move up a couple of positions. For DFS this week, Busch works as a pick for all potential formats, but especially is a great cash game option due to his upside.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman (ankle) has been ruled out for his team's Week 2 matchup on Monday night against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to ESPN's Kris Rhim. Perryman left the Chargers' Week 1 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the first quarter due to the injury. Veteran linebacker Troy Dye appears most likely to start in Perryman's place in Week 2. Perryman is generally considered a strong run defender, so his absence could make life on Monday easier for running back Ashton Jeanty and the rest of the Raiders' rushing attack.--Will Brady

Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler (shoulder) will undergo thoracic outlet decompression surgery on Sept. 23, according to Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic. This was the expected outcome after Wheeler's season came to an end in August. The right-hander is expected to need six to eight months to recover from the procedure, which will jeopardize his chances of being ready for the start of the 2026 campaign. Wheeler had been in the midst of another tremendous season until he had to undergo surgery to remove a blood clot near his right shoulder on Aug. 18. The 35-year-old took the ball 24 times this season and went 10-5 with a 2.71 ERA, a .94 WHIP, and 195:33 K:BB in 149 2/3 innings. Even without Wheeler, the Phillies are among the favorites to win the World Series, but their chances took an obvious hit when they lost him.--Connor Byrne

The Dallas Cowboys and left guard Tyler Smith have agreed to terms on a four-year, $96 million contract extension with $81.2 million guaranteed, per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. Smith will become the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL. A former first-round pick back in 2022, Smith has played multiple positions along the Cowboys' offensive line and earned two Pro-Bowl nods in three full NFL seasons. He becomes the latest Cowboy to ink an extension with the team following Dallas' trade of star edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.--Will Brady

Boston Red Sox right-hander Dustin May (elbow) has yet to resume throwing since he landed on the 15-day injured list on Sept. 9, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. May was diagnosed with elbow neuritis, and he doesn't have any structural damage. Earlier this week, the 28-year-old expressed confidence that he could return during the regular season, but he's running out of time with a little over two weeks remaining. Between the injury and his struggles on the mound, May has been a disappointing pickup for the Red Sox since they acquired him from the Los Angeles Dodgers in late July. He has made six appearances (five starts) with Boston and gone 1-4 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.69 WHIP, and 26:13 K:BB in 28 1/3 innings.--Connor Byrne

Houston Texans wide receiver Christian Kirk (hamstring) will not play on Monday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to a hamstring injury, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Kirk has yet to suit up for the Texans as a result of the injury. Without Kirk, rookie wide receivers Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel could be in line for more snaps in Week 2. Texans tight end Dalton Schultz could also see an uptick in targets, as he's typically effective in the same areas of the field as Kirk. Still, outside of star wideout Nico Collins, none of Houston's skill position players profiles as a must-start fantasy option for Week 2.--Will Brady

The Atlanta Falcons are elevating kicker Parker Romo from their practice squad, and Romo will serve as the team's kicker in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings. Atlanta signed Romo to a practice squad deal after veteran kicker Younghoe Koo missed a potential game-tying field goal attempt in the team's Week 1 loss. Romo kicked in four games for the Vikings last season, making 11 of 12 field goal attempts and seven of eight extra-point tries. He profiles outside of the top-12 fantasy kickers for Week 2.--Will Brady

Atlanta Falcons kicker Younghoe Koo (undisclosed) will not be active for his team's Week 2 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Falcons are elevating kicker Parker Romo from the practice squad to take Koo's place. The 31-year-old Koo missed a crucial field goal attempt in the closing seconds of Atlanta's Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, prompting the team to sign Romo. The Falcons have not parted ways with Koo yet, but the writing could be on the wall for the veteran kicker.--Will Brady

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Hyak Motorsports earned a starting position of 11th after qualifying for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. This is Stenhouse's fourth-highest starting position of his Cup Series career at Bristol. In 22 Cup starts at the site, Stenhouse has 12 top-20 finishes with seven being inside of the top 10. Stenhouse has an overall average finish of 19.2 in his Cup career at Bristol. Through 28 races this season, Stenhouse has 12 top-20 finishes with an average finish of 22.4. In practice for this week's race, Stenhouse ranked 21st in overall lap averages and as high as 13th in 30 consecutive lap averages. Stenhouse has an extremely high starting position for a driver with a value tier salary and although he did have a few solid runs previously, his Bristol history is mixed. Overall, there are more favorable value options available to recommend with less risk and better historical performance at Bristol compared to Stenhouse for DFS this week.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll says that he expects tight end Brock Bowers (knee) to play in the team's Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night, per Anthony Galaviz of The Fresno Bee. Bowers suffered a knee injury in Week 1 that forced him to miss practice on both Thursday and Friday of this week, but he was reportedly back at practice on Saturday. Even while leaving the game early, Bowers logged five catches for 103 yards in Week 1. As long as he's active, Bowers is a must-start tight end in Week 2.--Will Brady

San Francisco Giants first baseman Dominic Smith (thigh) will undergo an MRI on his right thigh on Saturday. Smith had to leave the Giants' 5-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday after injuring his thigh on a great stretch play in the fourth inning. The Giants replaced him with Wilmer Flores, who could see more action at first base if Smith has to miss time. Since signing with the Giants on June 4, Smith has hit a respectable .284/.333/.417 with five homers, 33 RBI, 26 runs scored, and two stolen bases over 63 games and 225 plate appearances.--Connor Byrne

Philadelphia Phillies infielder Edmundo Sosa (groin) is out of the lineup against the Kansas City Royals on Saturday. Bryson Stott will cover shortstop and hit eighth versus right-hander Ryan Bergert, and Donovan Walton will play second base and bat ninth. It's no surprise that Sosa will get the day off after leaving an 8-2 win over the Royals on Friday with groin tightness. It's not considered a serious injury, though, meaning Sosa may be back on Sunday. He has been filling in as the starting shortstop since standout Trea Turner (hamstring) went on the 10-day injured list on Sept. 8.--Connor Byrne

Spire Motorsports driver Michael McDowell will start 25th for this week's Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway, the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. McDowell is the only driver from Spire to qualify outside of the top 20 in this week's Cup race. In 27 Cup races at Bristol, McDowell has nine top-20 finishes, including four of the last five Cup events. After 28 races completed so far this season, McDowell has 16 top-20 finishes with an average finish of 19.5. In practice, McDowell ranked seventh in overall lap averages and as high as second in 10 consecutive lap averages. With McDowell's starting position being towards the middle of the pack and his favorable speeds, McDowell is likely to place in the top 20 and be an overall solid value DFS option for this week's race.--Sean Engel - RotoBaller

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Noah Fant had a team-high four catches in Sunday's win over the Browns. While he only accumulated 26 yards, he was the only Bengal besides Chase Brown to score a touchdown. Most assumed Mike Gesicki would see more work than Fant throughout the 2025 campaign. While that could still happen moving forward, that wasn't the case in Week 1, with Fant logging 26 snaps and Gesicki finishing with 16. The veteran still has a way to go before earning the trust of fantasy managers, especially since Gesicki likely isn't going away, considering his on-field relationship with quarterback Joe Burrow. Still, Fant can be utilized for streaming purposes in multi-tight end setups for the Week 2 meeting with the Jags. Fantasy managers should just be aware of the risk.--Dennis Clausen

Cincinnati Bengals running back Tahj Brooks didn't log an offensive snap in the Week 1 win over the Browns. Most assumed the rookie would have at least a small role in the offense. However, that didn't happen in the AFC North clash with Cleveland, with Samaje Perine getting 13 snaps and Chase Brown leading the way with 39. Without question, Brown was expected to get most of the work out of the backfield for the Bengals this season. That likely won't change unless he goes down with an injury. Brooks should get some snaps moving forward, but he has a long way to go before earning a spot in redraft lineups, including for the Week 2 meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars. On the other hand, he's at least worth stashing on dynasty rosters.--Dennis Clausen

Although some people will tell you Chase Elliott is having a great season because he is currently leading the traditional full-season Winston Cup points standings and people erroneously think that was a good points system, he has had an overrated season and hasn't been running nearly as well as that would imply. He ranks ninth, 28 points ahead of Austin Dillon for the final spot in the Round of 12 and should be safe considering how consistent he typically is. Despite how well Elliott has run here, he surprisingly hasn't won and he probably won't tonight either since despite his two second-place finishes in the 2022 and 2024 night races, he's only led five laps here with the Next Gen car. He should finish better than his starting position of 16th here - he nearly always does - so he definitely has some strong Place Differential potential for DFS, but he might not lead enough to be the overall best option.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

Although Bubba Wallace hasn't clinched a spot in the Round of 12, since he is 50 points ahead of Austin Dillon for the final playoff spot, he pretty much doesn't have to worry even if he fails to finish. Wallace is on a run of arguably the greatest consistency of his career as he has posted six top tens in his last eight starts including his Brickyard 400. One of the two races he didn't was the last short track race at Richmond, where he dominated and led 123 laps before losing a wheel. Wallace has become one of the low-key best short track racers in the series recently after also finishing third at Martinsville and sixth at Iowa, but despite finishing third at Bristol last year, he's kind of been snakebitten here. Nonetheless, given his hot streak and his eighth-place starting position, expect his general speed on short tracks to carry over here. He's definitely worthy of DFS consideration.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

Cincinnati Bengals running back Samaje Perine had two catches for six yards in the Week 1 win over the Browns. The veteran re-signed with the Bengals during the offseason, marking his third stint with the team. Most assumed he'd be routinely involved. However, that wasn't the case versus Cleveland, with Perine logging only 13 offensive snaps compared to Chase Brown's 39. Tahj Brooks didn't do anything. While that suggests the 29-year-old has a firm grasp over the rookie for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart, neither man isn't expected to have a consistent role in the offense moving ahead. That also applies to the Week 2 meeting with the Jags. As a result, fantasy managers should keep Perine on the bench. Better yet, he shouldn't even be on most fantasy rosters, although that could change if Brown gets hurt at some point throughout the 2025 campaign.--Dennis Clausen

Although Alex Bowman had never been much of a threat at Bristol before, he did have arguably his best races at the track in his last three starts as he drove from 29th to fourth in the 2024 spring race and led 32 and 39 laps from the pole in the last two races before being overtaken by his teammate, eventual winner Kyle Larson, who dominated the rest of both races. Hendrick Motorsports did not seem to bring the same speed this time as they did in those races, as Bowman qualified only 15th this time while Larson was fifth. Since Bowman got slower as both those races progressed, it's hard to imagine him winning, which he needs to do to advance in the playoffs. However, with the speed he's shown recently at Bristol, his gallant drive to second at Richmond recently, and his history of delivering in clutch playoff situations (albeit usually at the Charlotte roval), don't be shocked if he actually wins on Saturday.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

Ross Chastain sits only 19 points ahead of Austin Dillon for the final transfer spot in the Round of 12, which means he's in some danger of failing to advance in the playoffs, particularly if he has an early DNF, but otherwise it's a little hard to imagine any of the drivers behind him overtaking him unless Alex Bowman wins. Although Chastain has never led here or posted a top-five finish, he's been fairly consistent with five top-15s in his six races in competitive equipment, and this time he qualified 13th (far better than he usually does), which means he may have the potential to post one of his best finishes ever here. He qualified too well to make him an automatic DFS choice like he has been so many other weeks, but he still has value since he is still more likely to finish better than he starts.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

Austin Dillon has not been particularly good at Bristol as he has never led a lap here and has only posted four top-10 finishes, but one of those came in this year's spring race when he finished 10th and he certainly surprised many people by successfully defending his Richmond win with an even more dominant performance there in a race where his teammate Kyle Busch (who used to dominate there) was pretty lousy. However, Richmond is a very different track from Bristol, and it's hard to argue that one's speed at one of those tracks will automatically transfer to the other, except that drivers who tend to run well in general run well at both tracks. Dillon's Richmond success seems to have more to do with a single genius setup than a particular short-track prowess, so it's hard to imagine him doing something at Bristol on Saturday, especially starting 23rd.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

Despite his early win this season at Las Vegas, in retrospect, Josh Berry's season hasn't been very good, and he will almost certainly be eliminated from the playoffs on Saturday since he sits 45 points below his de facto teammate, Austin Cindric, who holds the transfer spot for the Round of 12. Since only 60 points are available in a race, this means Berry almost certainly needs to win to advance, and that's hard to imagine since he hasn't even led a lap in the last 17 races. Berry is pretty solid at Bristol since he did lead 25 laps in his first race in 2024 and has finished 12th in the last two spring races, but not only is it hard to imagine him having winning speed, it's also hard to imagine him being a major points scorer since he qualified 10tth and he does have a bit of a history of finishing worse than he starts. You should probably avoid him for DFS.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

Bristol is one of the few tracks where Justin Haley tends to look decent. In this spring's race, Haley finished only 13th but ran in the top five quite a bit in the first stage and had the ninth best driver rating of 97.1. The Spire Motorsports cars tend to be consistently fast here as well. While that has been mostly reflected by their emerging star Carson Hocevar, even Corey LaJoie was running just outside the top ten when he crashed in his last race for Spire before Haley replaced him. Starting 17th, it's not hard to see Haley potentially finishing in the top ten tonight although he never has here before, but even if he does, he won't gain that many points since he qualified in the top half of the grid and he probably won't score much in the way of Place Differential, lap leader, or fastest lap points, so he's a somewhat risky proposition.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

Ryan Preece is possibly having the best season he ever will have in the Cup Series. If he has a specialty, it is probably short track racing because of his vast Modified Series experience. Preece has shown bursts of dominance in the past, like when he led 135 laps from the pole at Martinsville in 2023 and led 60 laps from the pole at the last short track race at Richmond before finishing a miserable 35th after atrocious strategy. However, Preece has never led at Bristol and he finished only 20th in his first race here for RFK Racing and considering also his lackluster Dover results, he seems to be weaker on concrete than asphalt short ovals. Preece has randomly shown greater speed than he ever has before on a variety of tracks this year, so it wouldn't be surprising if he did so again at Bristol, but starting 20th, you shouldn't count on it.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller

John Hunter Nemechek had one strong run at Bristol, where he started 26th and finished sixth in the chaotic 2024 spring event, but that race was unlike any other Bristol race in history and can't reasonably be used to predict anything on Saturday. In the two significantly more boring Bristol races that followed (which are more likely to resemble Saturday's race), Nemechek was a total non-factor, earning his worst two finishes here of 33rd and 21st. Nemechek has been a little faster this year than in any year previous, and his 19th-place qualifying run is his best here on speed, but he probably isn't going to run well enough to lead many laps or earn many fastest-lap points, nor did he qualify poorly enough to make him a great place-differential option. His expected middling performance makes him a pretty poor DFS option.--Sean Wrona - RotoBaller
