Orioles Release Kyle Gibson
Kyle Gibson on Tuesday after he cleared waivers, according to The Baltimore Sun's Matt Weyrich. The O's signed the veteran hurler for $5.25 million this spring, but now he's a free agent again after the organization designated him for assignment over the weekend. Gibson did not look good in his four starts with the team before being cut, going 0-3 with a 16.78 ERA (10.56 FIP) and 2.92 WHIP with 10 strikeouts and seven walks in 12 1/3 innings pitched. He allowed 23 earned runs on 29 hits, including a whopping seven home runs. The 37-year-old veteran will now look to latch on with another organization on a minor-league deal, but other teams might be hesitant to do so after he was absolutely destroyed in his four starts with Baltimore.
