Matthew Boyd Strikes Out Seven, Earns Win On Monday
Matthew Boyd picked up a quality start in a 9-2 win over the San Francisco Giants on Monday. Boyd allowed two runs on five hits over six innings while striking out seven and not issuing any walks. The veteran southpaw only made one mistake in the form of a two-run homer to Luis Matos in the fourth inning. Boyd is putting together an excellent first season with the Cubs, posting a 3-2 record, 2.75 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 37 strikeouts over 39 1/3 innings of work. He will look to keep it rolling in his next start, which will be Sunday against the New York Mets.
