Matt Brash Shut Down From Throwing
10 months agoSeattle Mariners right-hander Matt Brash said he is "a little banged up" and has been shut down from throwing after his second bullpen session of spring training on Tuesday. General manager Justin Hollander said the team has scheduled the hard-throwing reliever to be "down" through the weekend. The hope is he can resume throwing next week. Brash didn't get into specifics, saying only that "it just didn't feel great" a day after his bullpen. With over a month until Opening Day in late March, the M's are going to be cautious with Brash. He didn't sound too concerned. Brash led the team with 78 relief outings in 2023 and went 9-4 with four saves, a 3.06 ERA, 107 K's and 29 walks in 70 2/3 innings. He proved reliable for the M's and in holds leads in a workhorse setup role late in games.
