Marvin Jones Jr. 2021 Outlook: New Team May Not Allow Him To Repeat 2020 Success
4 years agoIn the offseason, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Marvin Jones Jr. left the Detroit Lions and signed a two-year, $14.5 million deal to join Urban Meyer's squad. Jones turned in an excellent 2020 season, finishing as the overall PPR WR25 with 76 catches for 978 yards and nine scores. He reached at least 23 PPR fantasy points four times last season, capping it off with a massive 38-point performance in Week 17. That being said, Jones benefitted from wide receiver injuries around him in Detroit, with lead wideout Kenny Golladay only appearing in five games for the Lions last year. Jones heads to a much more crowded wide receiver room in Jacksonville as he will compete with D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault for targets. Rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence has loads of potential but he could struggle to put up huge numbers in 2021, as many rookie quarterbacks tend to do. Despite his quality season in 2020, fantasy gamers will want to treat Jones as a boom/bust WR4 in 2021.
