Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Thursday's game against the Chicago Cubs. This is a rare off day for Hayes who has started in 14 of his last 15 games, including five straight contests. Hayes has been swinging the bat better lately with at least one hit in six of his last seven games. Despite that, Hayes has been putting together an underwhelming campaign at the plate. Jared Triolo will cover third base and bat ninth versus right-hander Jameson Taillon on Thursday.--Andy Webb
