Jorge Polanco Not Playing Thursday
1 year agoMinnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco is getting the day off on Thursday against the visiting Oakland Athletics. With Polanco starting on the bench, Donovan Solano will man the keystone and will hit third in the order against A's right-hander Luis Medina. Willi Castro is starting at third base and is hitting in the two-hole for the Twins. Due to injuries, Polanco has played in only 78 games for Minnesota this year, and he's hitting .258/.339/.461 with an .800 OPS, 14 home runs, 18 doubles, 48 RBI, four stolen bases and 38 runs scored in 336 trips to the plate. The 30-year-old Dominican switch-hitter has gone 18-for-71 (.254) with four home runs, four doubles, 12 RBI, a stolen base and 14 runs scored in his 18 starts in September.
