Jorge Mateo Out 8-12 Weeks With Hamstring Strain
Jorge Mateo (hamstring) is expected to miss eight to 12 weeks with his left-hamstring strain, according to MASN's Roch Kubatko. Mateo initially landed on the 10-day injured list in early June with inflammation in his elbow, but now it's an injured hamstring that is going to keep him out well into the second half of the season. The 30-year-old injured his hamstring while on a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. Mateo stole a combined 67 bases with the Orioles in 2022 and 2023, but that was back when he was a regular starting middle infielder for Baltimore. With Gunnar Henderson and Jackson Holliday now entrenched as starters up the middle, Mateo doesn't play enough when healthy to be useful in mixed fantasy leagues. He does have 14 steals in 31 games as a bench player for the O's this year, though.
