Jonny Farmelo has Resumed Baseball Activities, Eyeing Mid-August Return
Jonny Farmelo (rib) resumed baseball activities this past week, including taking full swings. The Mariners' sixth-ranked prospect has been on the shelf after suffering a stress reaction in his rib, last playing in a game at High-A Everett on May 23. He also got a late start to the season, recovering from a torn ACL in 2024, which has resulted in a total of only 15 games played this year. In those 15 games, the 20-year-old slashed .288/.348/.610 with five home runs. With the big power comes lots of swing and miss, striking out at a 30.3 percent rate in his limited 2025 sample. His best tool might be his speed, though, and after suffering the ACL injury, the former 29th-overall draft pick has yet to steal a base this year, so keep an eye on that when he returns around mid-August.
