Joey Ortiz Will Not Play Wednesday Due To Bruised Knee, Stomach Issues
Joey Ortiz (knee, stomach) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Cubs due to a right knee bruise and stomach issues, per manager Pat Murphy. Ortiz fouled a ball off of his knee in the seventh inning of Tuesday's Game 2's 4-1 loss to the Cubs and was replaced defensively in the bottom half of the inning by Andruw Monasterio. Ortiz went 1-for-5 with a single, a walk, and a strikeout across both games. Fortunately, X-rays came back negative, and it sounds like the 27-year-old is day-to-day, although fantasy managers should keep an eye out for more news on Wednesday. Ortiz's offensive season stats are not impressive, but he has put together an excellent August with a .354/.400/.462 slash line and two stolen bases.
