Joey Bart Starting Rehab Assignment on Wednesday
Joey Bart (concussion) is starting a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday. Bart is on the seven-day injured list with a concussion that he sustained on May 28, but he's been cleared from the league's concussion protocol and will resume playing in minor-league games this week. As long as the 28-year-old backstop doesn't suffer any setbacks, it's possible he could be back this weekend for a series at Wrigley Field versus the Chicago Cubs. When he's activated from the IL, Bart will return to being Pittsburgh's primary catcher. The former first-rounder will return to a .240/.347/.308 slash line with a .655 OPS, one homer, 11 RBI, seven runs scored and a steal in 44 games played. Henry Davis has been doing most of the catching for the Bucs with Bart sidelined.
