The two offensive juggernauts held each other off the scoresheet until the third period. Both goaltenders stood on their heads in this game. Avalanche goaltender Philipp Grubauer stopped 37 of 39 shots and faced six power plays where he was perfect. In the Carolina crease, James Reimer stopped 27 of 28 shots. He doesn’t have a save percentage below .917 in his last six appearances. Carolina finally solved Grubauer late in the third period when the club rattled off three goals in the span of three minutes. The final goal was an empty-netter by the team’s leading goal-scorer Sebastian Aho (7 points in his last 5 games). Forward Andrei Svechnikov had the first goal which tied the game at 1-1 and then defenseman Jaccob Slavin netted the winner. Forward Jordan Martinook added two helpers. Winger Gabriel Landeskog had the lone goal for Colorado on the power play. --Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
