Jaleel McLaughlin Leads Backfield Against Jets, Scores Another TD
1 year agoDenver Broncos undrafted rookie running back Jaleel McLaughlin, as expected, led Denver's backfield in Week 5 against the New York Jets with Javonte Williams (quadriceps) sitting out. McLaughlin had a team-high nine carries for 68 yards and also caught three of his four targets for 21 yards and the third touchdown of his career in the 31-21 loss on Sunday. Samaje Perine had six carries for just 22 yards (3.7 yards per carry). McLaughlin and Perine formed a nice little one-two punch with Williams hurt. The 23-year-old McLaughlin is quick and shifty and has been impressing the coaching staff ever since training camp, so he's effectively jumped Perine on the RB depth chart. McLaughlin's RB3/flex appeal may take a hit as soon as Williams returns, though.
