Jace Jung Sitting Out In Series Opener Against Boston
Jace Jung will retreat to the bench for a breather in Monday's series opener against the visiting Boston Red Sox at Comerica Park. Zach McKinstry is handling hot-corner duties and will hit sixth against Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck. Jung has really struggled at the plate in his first 40 at-bats over 16 games played in just his second MLB season in 2025, recording four hits, driving in three, scoring six runs, walking seven times and striking out 13 times in 47 plate appearances. McKinstry has been better at the dish but offers minimal fantasy upside for DFS lineups on Monday. The 30-year-old has hit .274 (34-for-124) with only one home run, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored and three stolen bases early in the year for Detroit. In seven career at-bats versus Houck, he's hitting .143 with a .286 OPS.
