J.D. Martinez Gets Two Hits In All-Star Game
1 year agoLos Angeles Dodgers designated hitter J.D. Martinez only had two at-bats in Tuesday's All-Star game in Seattle, but he got a hit in both of his trips to the plate, including a double and a run scored in the National League's 3-2 victory to snap a nine-year losing skid in the Midsummer Classic. Tuesday's game was Martinez's sixth appearance in an All-Star contest in his career. Through the first half of the 2023 campaign, the 35-year-old veteran is batting .255 (73-for-286) with 22 home runs, 20 doubles, two triples, 62 RBI and 43 runs scored in 314 trips to the plate in his first year in Los Angeles. His average is a bit down from his .286 career mark, but Martinez also has a real shot at producing his first 30-homer season since 2019.
