Gabriel Moreno Will Return For NLDS Game 1
1 year agoArizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno (head) will be back behind the plate for Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers and left-hander Clayton Kershaw. Moreno took a backswing to the head while catching in the second inning on Wednesday in Game 2 of the wild-card series and was removed an inning later as a precaution. The 23-year-old backstop apparently has passed the league's concussion protocols and will be on the roster for the NLDS. It's great news for the D-backs as they look for a big upset over the division-rival Dodgers in the next series. Moreno is excellent defensively and hit a clutch go-ahead home run in the victory in Game 1 of the wild-card series on Tuesday. He hit .284 (97-for-341) on the season with seven homers, 50 RBI and six stolen bases in 111 games in his first full big-league campaign.
