Gabriel Arias Lands on Injured List, Bryan Rocchio Recalled
Gabriel Arias (ankle) on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a left-ankle sprain and recalled infielder Brayan Rocchio from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Arias sprained his ankle while trying to field a ground ball in Sunday's loss to the St. Louis Cardinals and had to be carted off the field, so it's no surprise he'll head to the IL and likely miss the end of the first half of the season. With Arias sidelined for at least a couple weeks, expect the Guards to go with a combination of Rocchio and Daniel Schneemann at the 6. Rocchio is at shortstop and is batting ninth for Tuesday's series opener in Chicago against the Cubs and left-hander Matthew Boyd. Rocchio was sent to the minors earlier this year after struggling at the plate to the tune of a .165/.235/.198 slash line with no homers, eight RBI, eight runs and two steals in 91 at-bats.
