Ezequiel Tovar Hitting Leadoff Against Giants
10 months agoColorado Rockies shortstop Ezequiel Tovar is starting at shortstop and batting in the leadoff spot on Friday against the San Francisco Giants and right-hander Ross Stripling. Tovar continues to rise up the Rockies' lineup while going 22-for-67 (.328) with three home runs, two doubles, a triple, 14 RBI, a stolen base and 11 runs scored in his last 17 games since June 13. The 21-year-old is seeing regular time at the 6 as Colorado's regular shortstop and is currently hitting .266/.303/.430 with eight home runs, 20 doubles, two triples, 41 RBI, four stolen bases and 41 runs scored in 310 plate appearances over 81 games. Tovar made his major-league debut in 2022, but he played in only nine games.
