Dodgers Hopeful Mookie Betts Will Return Sunday
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts (hip) had his "best day in a couple weeks" on Tuesday, according to manager Dave Roberts. The Dodgers are hopeful that Betts will return from the injured list when he's eligible on Sunday. Betts landed on the injured list with lingering right hip inflammation on July 25, but he's apparently made good progress and could return on Sunday in the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 28-year-old hasn't had the season that most were expecting, but he's still hitting .270/.374/.502 with 14 home runs, 63 runs, 40 RBI and seven thefts in 315 at-bats, and he was starting to get hot before his hip starting bothering him. Billy McKinney has started the last five games in right field with Betts on the shelf.
