Doctors Don't Recommend Surgery For Jimmy Garoppolo
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that none of the doctors the team talked to are recommending surgery for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle), and he'll be re-evaluated again in four to six weeks. Garoppolo suffered a new high-ankle sprain in the Week 8 loss to the Seahawks, but the good news is it looks like he avoided a season-ending injury. Still, the 29-year-old is unlikely to be able to help any fantasy teams reach the postseason in superflex leagues. Based on his timetable for a return, Jimmy G can be dropped in most single-year formats. Nick Mullens took over on Thursday night and only produced in garbage time with the game well out of hand against the Packers. With injuries to most of the team's key offensive weapons, Mullens will remain a low-end QB2 for Week 10 against the Saints.
