DL Hall Still Regaining Strength In Florida
10 months agoBaltimore Orioles pitching prospect DL Hall (back) was sent back to Sarasota, Fla., last weekend with the goal of gaining strength and velocity after a back injury that he suffered during spring training. The young left-hander is known for a high-octane fastball, but his average velocity at Triple-A Norfolk this year has been only 93.5 mph. With the O's earlier in 2023, he averaged 96.2 mph with his heater. The 24-year-old southpaw will still take part in live-game situations and throwing sessions at the team's spring training complex, but most of his time will be spent in the weight room. The team's No. 9 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has improved his secondary pitches as a result of his drop in fastball velocity, but the latest development will push his return to Baltimore back.
