Delino DeShields Tests Positive For COVID-19
4 years agoCleveland Indians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said that outfielder Delino DeShields tested positive for COVID-19 before arriving to camp this week. DeShields has been experiencing mild symptoms and is waiting to test negative before traveling to Cleveland for summer camp. The 27-year-old figures to be outfield depth in Cleveland this year, mainly in center field behind Oscar Mercado, but any missed time in spring training 2.0 will hurt for the speedy 27-year-old. DeShields hit .249/.325/.347 with four home runs, 24 steals, 42 runs scored and 24 stolen bases in 118 games in his final year in Texas in 2019. With 20-plus steals in four of his five big league seasons, speed is his biggest asset to fantasy owners in AL-only formats.
