Adley Rutschman Hopes to Return in September
Adley Rutschman (oblique) is hoping to come off the 10-day injured list over the final 10 days to two weeks of the season. Rutschman hasn't begun swinging a bat yet, but there's optimism that he'll return in 2025. A strained right oblique has shelved Rutschman since Aug. 18, and he also missed time earlier in the year with a left-oblique strain. The two-time All-Star has played in just 85 games as a result, and he has hit a career-worst .227/.310/.373 with nine homers, 29 RBI, and 37 runs scored over 348 trips to the plate. Shortly before Rutschman went on the IL, the Orioles brought up top catching prospect Samuel Basallo and then signed him to an eight-year contract extension worth a guaranteed $67 million. Basallo has struggled to a .200/.243/.257 line with no HRs and five RBI in his first 10 games and 37 plate appearances.
