4 years agoThe Chicago Cubs Agreed to terms with shortstop Ed Howard, their first-round pick at 16th overall, on Sunday at slot value for $3.75 million, according to a source. Many draft analysts considered Howard to be the steal of the first round and perhaps one of the best picks of the entire 2020 draft. A local prospect from Mount Carmel High School in Illinois, the 18-year-old is a very steady player with solid tools across the board. The 6-foot-2, 185-pounder has a simple swing from the right side and makes consistent, hard contact. He could develop average or better power if he continues to add strength and is a smooth defender at the 6.
