Cristian Mena Strikes Out Six on Wednesday
Arizona Diamondbacks right-handed pitching prospect Cristian Mena struck out six batters across five frames on Wednesday evening. In this outing, Mena allowed three runs (all unearned) and four hits. He did not serve up a free pass. This was the right-hander's second-straight outing now allowing an earned run. During this stretch, Mena has logged 10 1/3 innings of work to the tune of a 0.68 WHIP with 13 punchouts. Before this recent stretch, Mena carried a high 5.78 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP across his first 29 2/3 innings of work this season. Mena received a brief taste of the majors this season but logged just three 2/3 innings. He made his MLB debut last summer but also only tossed three innings. If the 22-year-old continues to progress well at Triple-A, he could be in the mix to earn a longer stint in Arizona.
