Houston Astros right-hander Cristian Javier is scheduled to make his first start of the year on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers. The Astros will go with Framber Valdez, Jake Odorizzi, Javier and Justin Verlander in their four-game series on the road against Texas. Javier, 25, has worked in a long-relief role to begin the season and has yet to allow a run on five hits while walking one and fanning 12 in his 8 1/3 innings pitched to this point. He may not go deep into his first start of the season, but Javier is an intriguing arm for fantasy managers after he had a 3.55 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, a 30.7% strikeout rate and a 12.5% walk rate in 101 1/3 innings over 36 appearances (nine starts) for the Astros in 2021.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
