Chase Elliott Finished Second at Watkins Glen on Sunday
3 years agoChase Elliott had the best and fastest race car on the track Sunday at the Watkins Glen track. It did not matter. There was a reason he led no laps of the 90 contested. Simply, the No. 9 car made too many mistakes at critical moments. Every single time Elliott started to get close, something seemed to go wrong. By the time, he righted the wrongs it was too late and Kyle Larson was able to easily hold him off. Elliott at one point overcooked the brakes nearly blew out his tires twice, and even almost bit it in a few corners trying to pass lapped traffic too fast. It was an adventurous drive for the Hendrick Motorsports Racing driver. This was also the third road race that Elliott and Larson finished first and second. This time, Larson was on top.
