Charlie Morton Likely To Start On Opening Day
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said that "in all likelihood," starting pitcher Charlie Morton will be the team's Opening Day starter on July 24 against the Blue Jays. Morton is 36 years old, but he's coming off a career year in 2019 with a 3.05 ERA and 240 strikeouts in 194 2/3 innings pitched. The right-hander has peaked towards the end of his career and he is an injury risk, but his fantasy stock has risen during the shortened 60-game season. Toronto's young and feisty lineup could pose some problems right off the bat, but Morton is a low-end fantasy ace with a very appealing strikeout rate.
