The Los Angeles Chargers promoted Derrick Ansley to defensive coordinator on Monday. They also announced the hiring of Jeff Howard as linebackers coach, Robert Muschamp as defensive quality control coach, Doug Nussmeier as quarterbacks coach and Tom Donatell to passing-game coordinator/secondary coach. The Bolts needed a new defensive coordinator when Renaldo Hill left last week for the Miami Dolphins. Ansley spent the last two years as the team's secondary coach. He joined the NFL coaching ranks after working at Tennessee and Alabama -- he was the D coordinator at Tennessee.--Keith Hernandez
