Chargers Likely To Continue Committee Approach At RB
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers have had different lead backs since running back Austin Ekeler injured his hamstring in Week 4 against the Buccaneers. In Week 10 against the Raiders, Kalen Ballage took control with a team-high 69 rushing yards against Las Vegas, but the week before that, Troymaine Pope had a surprise performance with 67 rushing yards against the Broncos. The Bolts had seven players with a rushing attempt in the Week 7 win over the Jaguars, with rookie quarterback Justin Herbert gaining a team-high 66 rushing yards that week. With Ekeler still on Injured Reserve and with Justin Jackson (knee) likely out this week, the Chargers will ride the hot hand with Joshua Kelley and Ballage. Pope was out with a concussion last week, but he should be in the mix as well this week if he's active. Despite his recent struggles, Kelley led the team in snaps last week with 43, but he only had 28 yards on nine carries. It's a situation to avoid for fantasy managers against Miami, with both Kelley and Ballage being shaky RB3/flex plays if Jackson is out.
