Bucs, Baker Mayfield Have Mutual Interest In 2024 Reunion
11 months agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers and quarterback Baker Mayfield have mutual interest in him returning to the team for the 2024 season, and his emergence this season has led NFL teams to inquire about offensive coordinator Dave Canales. Mayfield signed a one-year, prove-it deal with Tampa for the 2023 campaign and had the best season of his career, throwing for a career-high 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 17 regular-season starts while leading the Bucs to a Divisional Round appearance on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Because of the strong season, Mayfield could cash in with a big QB contract, but the Buccaneers also have the option to use the franchise tag on him. He'll also receive $250,000 per playoff win, so he could become a lot richer on Sunday with a second straight playoff victory over Detroit.
