Buccaneers Plan To Release Leonard Fournette
2 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to release running back Leonard Fournette when the new league year begins on March 15, according to sources. General manager Jason Licht mentioned recently that he thought Fournette was still a three-down back in the NFL, saying "Lombardi Lenny" is still only 28 and has plenty left in the tank. The Bucs need to save as much money against the 2023 salary cap as possible despite signing Fournette to a three-year, $21 million extension last offseason. In his third year in Tampa, Lenny was disappointing with a 3.5 yard-per-carry average, 668 rushing yards and a career-low-tying three rushing TDs on 189 carries in 16 games. Rachaad White will have a much higher fantasy ceiling in 2023 with Fournette out of the picture.
