Brandon Nimmo Out Again On Tuesday
6 months agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (head) is sitting out on Tuesday against the division-rival Washington Nationals for the second straight day. Nimmo slipped at his hotel room on Sunday night and suffered a cut on his forehead and is now missing his second straight game to begin the series against Washington. The 31-year-old avoided a concussion, though, so he's day-to-day and could be back in there on Wednesday. The struggling Jeff McNeil will start in left field again on Tuesday and bat ninth against Nationals rookie left-hander DJ Herz. McNeil, a former batting champion, has fallen on hard times in 2024 and is danger of losing playing time if he doesn't pick things up offensively. The good news is he's hit better against lefties this year, going 20-for-79 (.253) with a homer and six RBI, but he's a DFS fade out of the nine-hole the way he's been hitting.
