Brady Basso Expected to Return in Relief Role
Brady Basso (shoulder) felt good after throwing an inning with Single-A Stockton during a minor-league rehab outing on Sunday, according to MLB.com's Martin Gallegos. The A's are looking at using him in a relief role, which could get him back to the big leagues quicker. Basso is currently on the 60-day injured list and has yet to pitch in the big leagues this year due to his shoulder injury, but he could be an option out of their bullpen before the All-Star break. The 27-year-old southpaw made his MLB debut with the A's last year and posted a 4.03 ERA (3.88 FIP) and 1.25 WHIP with 19 strikeouts and five walks in seven outings (four starts) over 22 1/3 innings. Basso relies on command and doesn't have strikeout stuff, so he certainly won't be in play in mixed fantasy leagues when he returns to the majors in 2025.
