The Major League Baseball Players Association and the league ironed out the final details on Tuesday, allowing players to report to camps by July 1 and play a 60-game season starting on either July 23 or 24. An agreement on healthy and safety protocols, which was the final hurdle, was ironed out on Tuesday night. The regular season will feature both divisional and interleague play, where teams will only play within their corresponding geographical division in order to limit travel. The majority of teams are expected to hold spring training in their home cities. Three months of negotiations between the owners and players union were fruitless, but MLB used the right given in the March 26 agreement to impose a schedule of its desired length. Both sides could file grievances against each other for bad-faith negotiations after the season is over. Players will receive the full prorated share of their salaries -- about 37 percent of their full-season salaries. The playoffs will remain at 10 teams. A universal designated hitter will likely remain in place as part of the health and safety protocol.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
