Austin Barnes Returns From Injured List
6 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers activated catcher Austin Barnes (groin) from the 10-day injured list on Thursday and optioned catching prospect Will Smith to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Barnes will return to the primary catching duties over Russell Martin and will be relevant again in two-catcher leagues in a deadly Dodgers lineup. Smith, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, proved relevant in two-catcher leagues in his time in the majors by hitting .286 (6-for-21) with two home runs and three RBI. The 24-year-old could certainly see action in the big leagues again this season if another injury strikes either Barnes or Martin.
