The Arizona Diamondbacks placed catching prospect Adrian Del Castillo (back) on the 7-day injured list due to lower back discomfort. Jack Sommers of Sports Illustrated noted that the injury is not expected to be serious and the team is hoping he is only sidelined for a short period. Del Castillo has already had a stint on the injured list earlier this season due to a shoulder injury. However, when on the field, Del Castillo has been quite productive, posting a .305/.442/.678 slash line with three doubles and five home runs. Through five games with Triple-A Reno, Del Castillo posted a .294 AVG. The young catcher made his MLB debut last season and performed quite well, holding a .313/.368/.525 line with four round-trippers. If Del Castillo can overcome this injury, he will likely be in the mix to return to Arizona in the second half.--Andy Smith
