Adley Rutschman Has Three Hits, Homers At Double-A
4 years agoBaltimore Orioles prospect Adley Rutschman went 3-for-4 with a ninth-inning, game-tying home run on Sunday. The hits drove the catcher's batting average up from .211 to a more respectable .246. The home run was his fourth in 17 games this season at the Double-A level. It's been an unusual season for Rutschman, who has hit for power and gotten on base a ton via the walk (21%) but he's also struggled to hit for average and had swing-and-miss issues early in the season. The first overall pick from the 2019 draft has a high ceiling but it seems like he's been battling through mechanical issues at the plate early on. Rutschman also has an unusually low line-drive rate of just 2%. He could now be heating up.
