No. 32 - Vancouver Canucks

Last Week Ranking - 32

While the Canucks capped off Week 17 with a victory over the Leafs, they took two losses before the Olympic break. In Week 18, they fell to the Utah Mammoth (6-2) on Monday and would conclude the week with a 5-2 loss to the Golden Knights. Netminder Kevin Lankinen got the nod in both games but struggled, stopping 39 of the 50 shots he saw.

They will enter the break with a 2-7-1 record over their last 10 and remain at the bottom of the standings with a mere 42 points.

No. 31 - New York Rangers

Last Week Ranking - 31

The Rangers had only one game in Week 18 but were unable to get into the win column, losing to the Hurricanes (2-0) on Thursday night. This was their fourth straight regulation loss, and they have now won just two games over their last 10, entering the break as they clear the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

While this team is in free fall, a lone bright spot has been center Mika Zibanejad. The 32-year-old has found the back of the net 11 times and tacked on 11 helpers over his last 15 contests. Additionally, netminder Jonathan Quick turned in a strong bounce-back in their loss to the Hurricanes, stopping 41 of the 42 shots he saw. Before this loss, he held a 4.63 GAA over his last nine outings.

No. 30- St. Louis Blues

Last Week Ranking - 29

The Blues saw their losing streak hit three games following two regulation losses this past week. After falling to the Blue Jackets at the end of Week 17, the Blues would then take two straight regulation losses to the Nashville Predators (6-5) and then the Dallas Stars on Wednesday (5-4). However, their offense has begun to find its footing, scoring nine goals in these losses.

Forward Jordan Kyrou tallied five points over these two games and continues to build his value on the trade market. In net, Jordan Binnington's disaster season continued as he now holds a rough .864% SV% with a 3.65 GAA over his 32 games played. He has lost each of his last seven outings and held an even worse .828% SV% over this skid.

No. 29 - Chicago Blackhawks

Last Week Ranking - 30

After ending last week with a 4-2 loss to the red-hot Columbus Blue Jackets, the Blackhawks began the new week with a much-needed 6-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks. However, they would be unable to kick-start a winning streak as they fell to the Blue Jackets in a rematch to cap off the week.

They have won just three games over their last 10 and hold an overall 3-5-2 record over this stretch. In their lone victory this week, forward Ryan Donato posted an impressive four-point effort with two goals and two helpers. The 29-year-old has now scored 13 goals across 57 games.

No. 28 - Calgary Flames

Last Week Ranking - 28

The Flames had two games this past week and went 1-1. They opened with a 4-2 regulation loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs but were able to end on a high note, taking down the Edmonton Oilers in the Battle of Alberta on Wednesday night (4-3). This now brings them to a 23-27-6 overall record and a modest 4-4-2 record over their last 10 contests.

Center Nazem Kadri has continued to be the backbone of the offense. Over his last nine games, Kadri has tallied seven points while logging 20 shots on goal with five hits.

No. 27 - Winnipeg Jets

Last Week Ranking - 27

The Jets showed some promise in Week 17, taking down the Panthers and the Devils, but were unable to carry that momentum into the short Week 18. They opened on Monday with an overtime loss to the Dallas Stars (4-3) and would then fall to the Montreal Canadiens (5-1) to conclude the week.

This brings them to an underwhelming 3-4-3 record over their last 10. The Jets now sit with the Flames for the fourth-fewest points in the entire sport but have a higher -15 GD, which will keep them above them on our rankings. Despite the team's struggles, top defenseman Josh Morrissey has continued to play at an elite level, totaling 42 points in 56 games, 94 blocked shots, and a +10 rating.

No. 26 - New Jersey Devils

Last Week Ranking - 23

After picking up two straight wins to cap off Week 17, the Devils took a massive step back before the Olympic break. In Week 18, the Devils dropped both of their games in regulation. More importantly, these losses came against two Metropolitan teams, the Blue Jackets and Islanders, which really hurt them in the standings.

They now sit with a 28-27-2 record and a mere 58 points, the second worst in the Eastern Conference, only above the Rangers. Top center Nico Hischier has remained a bright spot on offense, scoring four goals over his last seven contests.

No. 25 - Nashville Predators

Last Week Ranking - 26

Unlike most clubs, the Predators had a busy three-game slate this week. On Monday, they started with an impressive 6-5 victory over the St. Louis Blues. They then fell to the Wild (6-5) in overtime on Wednesday, and they saw their point streak come to an end on Thursday in their loss to the Washington Capitals (4-2).

Top defenseman Roman Josi continues to drive the offensive attack. This week, he tacked on an impressive six points (five helpers) and has now tallied 21 points over his last 13 total games. Sitting at 26-24-3, the Predators remain on the outside of the Western playoff picture.

No. 24 - San Jose Sharks

Last Week Ranking - 20

The Sharks lost their final two games in Week 17 and saw their losing streak hit four games at the conclusion of Week 18. They began the week with a tough 6-3 loss to the Blackhawks and ended with a 4-2 loss to the heavyweight Colorado Avalanche. The Sharks are quickly falling in the standings and hold a 4-5-1 record over their last 10.

Overall, the Sharks enter the break with 58 points, good for the 25th spot in the overall standings. However, they remain within reach of several Western clubs as the Kraken, Ducks, Kings, and Predators are all within five points. They have a valuable six-game home stand coming out of the break, providing them with a great opportunity to stack some points.

No. 23 - Philadelphia Flyers

Last Week Ranking - 24

The Flyers have been one of our biggest fallers since mid-January and trailed a much-needed three out of four points before the break. They began Week 18 with a massive 4-2 victory over their division rival, the Washington Capitals, before ending off with an overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators. In this victory, Dan Vladar led the way, stopping 26 of the 28 shots he saw en route to earning his 17th victory of the season.

While they carry a 3-4-3 record over their last 10, they sit just four points behind the Capitals in the standings, but with an extra three games in hand.

No. 22 - Florida Panthers

Last Week Ranking - 18

The Panthers have been unable to dig themselves out of their early season hole and are quickly losing ground in the playoff picture. While they have shown flashes at times, it has been unsustainable. This week was yet another example as they picked up a massive victory over the Bruins, but fell to the Lightning (6-1) and the Sabres (5-3).

They have now fallen behind the Flyers in the overall standings and have won just four of their last 10 games. In fact, only one of these victories has come in their last five games. Since returning from injury, Matthew Tkachuk has made an impact, tallying eight points in 10 games with 12 hits and two blocked shots.

No. 21 - Los Angeles Kings

Last Week Ranking - 19

The Kings continue to remain one of the most inconsistent clubs in the sport, like the Panthers. This past week, the Kings had a short two-game slate against Pacific Division rivals and dropped both in regulation, falling to the Kraken and the Golden Knights. Over its last 10, Los Angeles is a modest 4-3-3.

Similar to the Sharks, the Kings remain in the logjam near the other wild-card teams in the conference. While consistent singing has been an issue, acquiring Artemi Panarin should provide a much-needed spark to this offense. Netminder Darcy Kuemper has continued to play at a high level, posting a 2.59 GAA through 35 outings.

No. 20 - Toronto Maple Leafs

Last Week Ranking - 25

The Leafs ended Week 17 with a very important victory over the lowly Canucks and were able to build some serious momentum ahead of the break. This week, they posted a perfect 2-0 record and picked up all four points against the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers during the final stretch of their road trip.

Star winger William Nylander led the team with four points while Matias Maccelli scored a team-high three goals. They now hold an improved 4-5-1 record in their last 10 and remain in striking distance of the second wild card.

No. 19 - Ottawa Senators

Last Week Ranking - 21

The Senators began the week with a tough two-game test against the heavyweights of the Metropolitan Division, the Penguins and the Hurricanes. However, they escaped with a 1-1 record and finished the week with a 2-1 overtime victory over the Flyers. They now sit with a 28-22-7 overall record and a strong 6-3-1 over their last 10.

Netminder Linus Ullmark was outstanding in their victory over the Penguins, allowing just two goals against one of the hottest teams in the league. Since returning from a personal matter, he has gone 2-0 with a .930% SV%. This team is getting hot at the right time.

No. 18 - Washington Capitals

Last Week Ranking - 22

The Capitals contended to claw their way back in the postseason picture and enter the break on a high note. They extended their win streak to three games on Monday night when they took down the Islanders (4-1). While the Flyers snapped their streak on Tuesday (in a 4-2 loss), they capped off the week with another victory over the Predators (4-2).

Washington now sports a solid 5-4-1 record over its last 10 and is beginning to show signs of its 2024-25 form. Defenseman Jakob Chychrun continued his offensive breakout and now sits just one point shy of his career high in just 57 games played. This week, he tacked on another three points (with two goals) and is a sleeper pick for the Norris.

No. 17 - Edmonton Oilers

Last Week Ranking - 13

The Oilers ended Week 17 with a loss to the Minnesota Wild (7-3) and saw this trend continue in Week 18, dropping each of their games in regulation. On Tuesday, they fell to the Leafs and then lost in the Battle of Alberta to the Flames. This disappointing showing brings them to a 28-22-8 record and a 5-5 record over their last 10 games.

Since returning from injured reserve, Tristan Jarry has struggled in the net, leading to the team's inconsistent play. Since January 13, the former Penguin holds a 3-4-1 record with a .864% SV% and a rough 3.85 GAA. Jarry will need to find his early season form if this team wants to come from a top-3 seed in the Pacific Division.

No. 16 - Seattle Kraken

Last Week Ranking - 17

Seattle carried an impressive four-game winning streak into Week 18 but unfortunately saw it snapped at the hands of the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday evening in a 4-2 loss. However, the Kraken rebounded well, taking down the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday by the same score to enter the break.

The Kraken enter the break with a 27-20-9 record and sit just one point behind the Oilers in the Pacific Division. Goaltender Philipp Grubauer has played a lead role in their resurgence in the new calendar year. Since January 1, the German netminder holds a strong .914% SV% with a 2.41 GAA.

No. 15 - Anaheim Ducks

Last Week Ranking - 16

Anaheim's Western Canada trip ended with two straight regulation losses to the Oilers and Canucks to cap off Week 17. However, it was able to get back on track in Week 18 and carry some momentum into the break. It posted a 2-0 record against the Golden Knights (4-3) and surging Kraken (4-2).

The Ducks have now picked up eight victories over their last 10 games and have put that brief January skid in the far rearview mirror. Over his last nine starts, goaltender Lukáš Dostál has been elite, posting an 8-1 record with a stellar .930% SV% and a 1.96 GAA.

No. 14 - Utah Mammoth

Last Week Ranking - 14

Alongside the Ducks, the Mammoth have been just as dominant in the Western Conference over the last two weeks. In Week 18, Utah continued to stack points, posting a perfect 2-0 record, taking down the Canucks (6-2) on Monday, and then defeating the Red Wings (4-1) on Wednesday evening.

Forward Nick Schmaltz enjoyed a scoring binge this week, adding four goals with two helpers. The Mammoth enter the break with an elite 7-3 record over their last 10 and now sit 15th in the overall standings.

No. 13 - New York Islanders

Last Week Ranking - 12

They began the week the same way they ended Week 17, with a loss. On Monday, they fell to the surging Washington Capitals, who have been turning the corner in a 4-1 loss. However, they finished the week on a high note, taking down the Pittsburgh Penguins in a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory and then the slumping Devils by a 3-1 score.

The Islanders have won six of their last 10 games and remain just one point behind the Penguins in the Metropolitan Division. Much of their success is credited to breakout defenseman Matthew Schaefer, the favorite for the Calder, and Ilya Sorokin, a high favorite for the Vezina.

No. 12 - Columbus Blue Jackets

Last Week Ranking - 15

The Blue Jackets continued to roll in Week 18 and entered the break as the hottest team in the sport. This week, they picked up two more victories and have now won each of their last seven contests. On Tuesday, they shut out the Devils (3-0) and concluded the week with another shutout (4-0) over the Blackhawks.

Columbus now not only stands within firm grasp of the playoff picture, but is just four points behind the Islanders for the No. 3 spot in the Metropolitan Division, with two games in hand. Goaltender Jet Greaves has played a major role in the surge, posting an elite .924% SV% over his last seven outings.

No. 11 - Vegas Golden Knights

Last Week Ranking - 11

The Golden Knights were one of our biggest fallers last week when they fell to the Kraken, Ducks, Stars, and Canadiens over the last four. However, before the break, Vegas picked up a much-needed four points to hold its ground in the Pacific Division. On Wednesday, it took down the Canucks (5-2) and then finished the week on a high note, defeating the Kings (4-1).

Top forwards Mark Stone and Jack Eichel carried the load this week, totaling nine points (three goals) over these two games. Through 41 games this season, Stone has been one of the top forwards in the game, tallying 60 points with 21 goals.

No. 10 - Boston Bruins

Last Week Ranking - 9

The Bruins had only one game this week, which ended in a shootout loss to the Florida Panthers. This was their second straight shootout loss as they fell to the Lightning last Sunday evening in the Stadium Series. Despite the loss, the Bruins have put together a strong stretch of play in February and entered the break holding serious momentum.

Over their last 10 games, the Bruins have dropped just one in regulation with a strong 6-1-3 record. Overall, their 69 points place them in a firm position of the No. 2 Wild Card in the Eastern Conference, but remain within reach of the Sabres and Red Wings. Since the start of the calendar year, David Pastrňák has only been held off the scoresheet twice (over 16 games) and has totaled 27 points.

No. 9 - Detroit Red Wings

Last Week Ranking - 8

After being embarrassed by the Avalanche on their home ice earlier in Week 17, the Red Wings got some revenge in Colorado, taking them down 2-0 to begin their week on Monday night. However, they were unable to kick-start a winning streak, as they fell to the Mammoth on the back half of their road trip (4-1).

Following their impressive January, the Red Wings have hit a bit of a skid (5-3-2 over their last 10) and have fallen to the No. 3 spot in the Atlantic Division (tied in points with the No. 2 Canadiens) and are quickly losing ground on the Sabres and Bruins. Much of their success since the Christmas break is attributed to netminder John Gibson, who has held a 9-3-1 record over his last 12 games with a .921% SV%.

No. 8 - Montreal Canadiens

Last Week Ranking - 7

The Canadiens ended Week 17 riding high on a three-game win streak. However, while they extended their "point" streak on Monday, their win streak would be snapped as they fell to the Wild in overtime (4-3). In their final game before the break, the Canadiens quickly got back on track, taking down the lowly Jets by a dominating 5-1 score.

Veteran forward Brendan Gallagher sparked the scoring this week, netting two goals (one in each game) and adding two helpers. This brings his yearly total to 19 points (through 57 games). The Habs enter the break sitting sixth in the league in total points and a solid 6-3-1 over their last 10.

No. 7 - Buffalo Sabres

Last Week Ranking - 4

The Sabres began the week with another two-point effort, taking down the reigning two-time Stanley Cup champions in Florida with a 5-3 victory. However, their final two games before the break did not end the same way, as they fell to the Lightning in overtime and then to the Penguins in regulation back in upstate New York.

While they took a slight dip this week, they have still smashed all expectations and remain near the top of the standings. 25-year-old defenseman Rasmus Dahlin has taken a major step forward this season as he has tallied 48 points in 53 games with 50 hits and 67 blocked shots. Since January 8 (16 games), he has tallied 20 points.

No. 6 - Pittsburgh Penguins

Last Week Ranking - 6

The Penguins saw their hot streak snapped at the start of the week. On Monday, they took a regulation loss to the Senators and saw their brief skid continue in New York, falling to the Islanders in a tough 5-4 overtime loss. However, they ended the week with a massive 5-2 victory over the Sabres. In this game, Avery Hayes scored his first two NHL goals in his first NHL game.

Even though they had a bit of a down week to their standards, they still boast an elite 7-1-2 record over their last 10 and remain in the No. 2 spot in the Metropolitan Division. The Penguins remain one point above the Islanders in the standings with an additional two games in hand.

No. 5 - Dallas Stars

Last Week Ranking - 10

The Stars continued to roll this week and appear to be finally putting it all together. In Week 18, they extended their win streak to an impressive six games. On Monday, they took down the Winnipeg Jets (3-2) in overtime and then had a thrilling 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Blues.

Forward Jason Robertson has yet to slow down since being snubbed from Team USA at the Olympics. Over his last 15 games, he has scored eight goals and added nine helpers.

They have now won seven of their last 10 contests and are within just one point of the Minnesota Wild for the No. 2 spot in the Central Division.

No. 4 - Minnesota Wild

Last Week Ranking - 5

The Wild enjoyed a surge in our rankings last week and continued to roll in Week 18. They had two games on their schedule and took care of business in both, picking up all four points. On Monday, they took down the top-heavy Canadiens in a 4-3 overtime victory and would end their week with a 6-5 overtime victory over the Predators.

They have now won each of their last five and hold a near-perfect 8-1-1 record over their last 10 games. 24-year-old forward Matt Boldy continues to enjoy his breakout campaign as he netted a hat trick in their victory over the Predators, which set a new career-high of 32 goals. Through 54 games, he has tallied 62 points, just 11 shy of his career-best mark.

No. 3 - Carolina Hurricanes

Last Week Ranking - 3

The Canes had a two-game slate of action this week and continued to remain a top contender, picking up all four points. They first took down the Senators (4-3) on Tuesday evening and would end off the week with a 2-0 shutout victory over the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

The Hurricanes continue to build on their lead in the Metropolitan Division and have not lost in regulation in their last 10 games (8-0-2). Brandon Bussi continued to bolster his Vezina resume on Thursday night, picking up a 16-save shutout. Through 27 games, he has held a 23-3-1 record.

No. 2- Colorado Avalanche

Last Week Ranking - 2

The Avalanche saw their inconsistent play carry over into the final week before the break. They began with a loss to the Red Wings on Monday night (2-0) but then got back in the win column, defeating the Sharks (4-2) on Wednesday night. While they still sit at the top of the league standings, they hold an underwhelming 4-5-1 record in their last 10.

While the team's quality of play has been shaky, Nathan MacKinnon has not. MacKinnon remains the Hart Trophy favorite heading into the break as he has scored 40 goals and added 53 helpers over just 55 games played.

No. 1 - Tampa Bay Lightning

Last Week Ranking - 1

The Lightning remain the team to beat heading into the Olympic break. In Week 18, they stayed hot, posting a perfect 2-0 record, taking down the high-flying Sabres and the Panthers in the Battle of Florida. The Bolts are now just five points behind the Avalanche in the overall standings and are quickly closing this gap.

They have posted an 8-1-1 record over their last 10 and have been borderline unstoppable since the new calendar year. Andrei Vasilevskiy has won each of his last eight contests with an elite .938% SV% and a 1.58 GAA.
