No. 32 - Vancouver Canucks

Last Week Ranking - 32

The Canucks saw their losing streak reach 11 games on Monday, falling to the Islanders (4-3). However, they were able to snap their lengthy skid with a 4-3 victory over the Capitals on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the bottom team in our rankings kick-started another losing streak, falling to the Devils on Friday and the Penguins on Sunday.

With a 1-9 record over their last 10 games and a league-low 39 points, Vancouver continues to sit at the bottom of our ranking.

No. 31 - New York Rangers

Last Week Ranking - 27

The Rangers spent the week out in California and saw their stock continue to plummet. They fell to the Ducks, Kings, and Sharks, all in regulation, by a combined 12-7 score. The Rangers have now won just two total games over their last 10 contests and have dropped seven of them in regulation during this span.

Veteran netminder Jonathan Quick has struggled taking over the starter's crease in Igor Shesterkin's absence. Over his last six outings, Quick has posted a 0-5-1 record with a 5.47 GAA. The Rangers enter Week 17 as the clear bottom team in the East.

No. 30- St. Louis Blues

Last Week Ranking - 29

The Blues took a dive in our rankings this week and remain near the bottom of the Western Conference. On Tuesday, they saw their losing streak hit two games as they fell to the Winnipeg Jets (3-1). On Friday, they fell to the Dallas Stars (3-2), and on Saturday, they concluded their week with a shootout loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

The Blues hold a 3-6-1 record over their last 10 and hold a hefty -52 GD, which is currently tied for the lowest mark in the sport. While they seem to be in freefall, forward Jordan Kyrou turned in a strong week, netting three goals and adding a helper.

No. 29 - Calgary Flames

Last Week Ranking - 28

The Flames carried a two-game winning streak into Week 16 but quickly saw this surge flipped. They took four straight losses in Week 16 (to the Devils, Penguins, Capitals, and Ducks), but earned a loser point on Monday in their loss to the Devils. On Sunday, they fell to the Ducks in overtime, but picked up their second point of the week.

The Flames hold a 3-5-2 record over their last 10 contests and a 21-25-6 record.

No. 28 - Chicago Blackhawks

Last Week Ranking - 31

Following a tough 0-3 showing last week, the Blackhawks were able to quickly snap their skid and get back on track. They would begin the week with two straight victories, taking down the Jets and Hurricanes. On Friday, they would earn a point in their third-straight game but fall to the Lightning in a shootout.

To conclude the week, they would fall 5-1 to the Panthers. They enter Week 17 carrying a 21-23-8 record, good for the sixth-worst in the sport.

No. 27 - Winnipeg Jets

Last Week Ranking - 30

Following a strong finish to Week 15, the Jets were carrying some momentum into Week 16. However, they began the week with a tough 2-0 loss to the Blackhawks. While they got back on track, taking down the Blues (3-1) on Tuesday, they would drop their final two games of the week, to the Panthers (shootout loss) and the Red Wings (5-1).

Since the start of the New Year, reigning Vezina winner Connor Hellebuyck has posted a modest 3.08 GAA with a .892% SV% and a 3-4-3 record. They remain in the bottom group of our power rankings.

No. 26 - Nashville Predators

Last Week Ranking - 21

The Predators took a step back this week following a 1-2 effort. They began the week falling to the Sabres (5-3) but rebounded well, defeating the Senators by the same score on Thursday night. They concluded the week with a 5-2 loss to the red-hot Utah Mammoth. This brings them to a 5-5 record over their last 10 games.

35-year-old Steven Stamkos has turned back the clock throughout January, scoring seven goals and adding two assists over his last nine games. During this stretch, Stamkos has scored four of them on the power play and logged 16 total shots on goal.

No. 25 - Ottawa Senators

Last Week Ranking - 22

The Senators went 2-2 last week and saw the same result in Week 16. Ottawa began the week with a 4-1 victory over the Blue Jackets thanks to a 21-save performance from James Reimer. However, they would then drop their next two games (against the Predators and Hurricanes before rebounding in a big way, defeating the Golden Knights (7-1) on Sunday.

During their dominant victory on Sunday, Brady Tkachuk and Stephen Halliday would lead the way, combining for six points. The Senators ended week 16 with 55 points, tied for second place in the East.

No. 24 - Seattle Kraken

Last Week Ranking - 20

The Kraken's early January surge appears to be far in the rear-view mirror after another disappointing week. In Week 16, Seattle began with a tough 6-2 loss to the Penguins on their home ice. While they rebounded on Wednesday, defeating the Islanders, they fell back in the loss column on Friday, losing to the Ducks.

Their week ended on Sunday with a 4-2 victory over the Devils. They now sit with a 23-19-9 record and alongside the Kings and Sharks with 55 points in the Pacific Division. Goaltender Joey Daccord enjoyed a strong showing on Sunday, stopping 27 of the 29 shots he saw. Entering this game, Daccord lost each of his last three games.

No. 23 - Columbus Blue Jackets

Last Week Ranking - 26

The Blue Jackets enjoyed a strong showing last week and continued to make up ground in the Eastern Conference this week. While they began the week with a tough 4-1 loss to the Senators, they rebounded well, taking down the Stars (1-0) and the Lightning (8-5) on Saturday evening.

They carry a solid 6-4 record over their last 10 and only a handful of games out of the Eastern playoff picture. Since returning from injury, star defenseman Zach Werenski has been playing at a near-MVP level, scoring five goals and adding 10 assists over his last 12 games.

No. 22 - Washington Capitals

Last Week Ranking - 15

The Capitals continued their inconsistent play and are losing ground in the Eastern playoff picture. This week, they had a four-game slate but only picked up three points. Their lone victory came against the lowly Flames on Friday, and then they added their third in an overtime loss against the Oilers on Saturday night.

They have just three games over their last 10 and hold an underwhelming 25-21-7 record, a stark drop from where they were in the standings at this point in the 2024-25 season. While the team has been very inconsistent, netminder Logan Thompson has continued to play at a high level, carrying a .910% SV% since January 1.

No. 21 - New Jersey Devils

Last Week Ranking - 24

The Devils enjoyed a much-needed strong showing to begin the week, picking up three-straight victories, taking down the Flames (in overtime), Oilers, and Canucks. However, their week ended with a tough 4-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken. They will return home on Tuesday to face the Jets.

While they were in a disappointing stretch of play, they now hold a much-improved 5-5 record over their last 10 and are beginning to rekindle their early-season form. Forward Cody Glass enjoyed a strong showing this week, scoring three goals and adding one helper.

No. 20 - Los Angeles Kings

Last Week Ranking - 23

The Kings had a short two-game slate this week and took care of business, picking up all four crucial points. On Tuesday, they took down the Rangers (4-3) in Los Angeles and then defeated St. Louis with a 5-4 shootout victory on Saturday. They will continue heading east next week and won't return to California until February 4.

The Kings have held a 4-2-4 record over their last 10 games. While they have struggled to win games in the extra frame (given their high 13 overtime/shootout losses), they remain within reach of the Sharks and Ducks for the No. 3 seed in the Pacific Division.

No. 19 - Anaheim Ducks

Last Week Ranking - 25

The Ducks posted a 3-0 showing last week and stayed hot in Week 16 as they continue to make up the ground they lost earlier this month in the Western Conference. They picked up all eight possible points and will enter Week 17 as one of the hottest teams in the league. They took down the Rangers, Avalanche, and Kraken to begin the week.

On Sunday, they took down the Flames in a thrilling 4-3 overtime victory. Rookie Beckett Sennecke led the way, scoring his first career hat trick. They carry a stellar seven-game winning streak into the new week.

No. 18 - Toronto Maple Leafs

Last Week Ranking - 12

The Leafs looked to have found their footing this month, but took a bit of a step back in our rankings this week. Through a four-game slate, Toronto would pick up just one of its eight possible points. Their regulation losses came against the Wild, Golden Knights, and Avalanche, while their overtime loser pit came against the Red Wings on Wednesday evening.

While Anthony Stolarz stumbled in his return on Friday night (allowing five goals on 30 shots), having him back in action will prove a massive boost to the Toronto crease and, more importantly, ease Joseph Woll's workload.

No. 17 - Philadelphia Flyers

Last Week Ranking - 17

The Flyers entered the week in a bit of a slump and needed to pick up points as they were quickly losing ground in the Eastern Conference. They began the week with an impressive 2-1 victory over the Golden Knights. On Wednesday, they fell to the Mammoth on their road trip but escaped with an overtime point.

Then on Friday, they enjoyed potentially the most impressive victory of the season, taking down the Avalanche in Colorado by a commanding 7-3 score. Owen Tippett led the offense this week, scoring three goals. While the Flyers still sit behind the Islanders and Penguins, this week gave them a much-needed point boost in the standings.

No. 16 - San Jose Sharks

Last Week Ranking - 18

The Sharks continued to hold their footing and picked up four of their possible six points in Week 16. They began the week with a 4-1 victory over the Panthers but fell to the Lightning (4-1) the following day on the second half of their Florida road trip. However, they would end the week with a 3-1 victory over the struggling Rangers back in San Jose.

During their victory over the Rangers, budding superstar Macklin Celebrini snapped his six-game goal streak with a two-goal night. Since January 1, Celebrini has tallied 12 points (over 10 games) while logging an eye-catching 47 total shots on goal.

No. 15 - Florida Panthers

Last Week Ranking - 16

The Panthers have slowly been clawing their way back into the playoff picture and turned in another solid showing in Week 16. While their week began with a loss to the Sharks (4-1), they would take care of business in their next two games, defeating the Jets and Wild (both in overtime/shootout).

On Sunday, they would push their winning streak to three games, taking down the Blackhawks in Chicago by a commanding 5-1 score. In this game, Tobias Bjornfot scored his first two goals of the season to lead the way. The reigning champions now stand with a 6-4 record over their last 10 and a 28-20-3 record.

No. 14 - Utah Mammoth

Last Week Ranking - 19

The Mammoth had only two games this week, but did their job as they continue to claw back into the postseason race. On Wednesday, they took down the Flyers in a thrilling 504 overtime victory. Clayton Keller led the way, scoring the tying goal in the final minute and then winning the game in overtime.

During their second contest, the Mammoth would add two more points, taking down the Predators (5-2) in Nashville. They are one of the hottest teams in the sport and hold a stellar 8-1-1 record over their last 10. They carry an overall five-game winning streak into Week 17 when they open up against the Lightning on Monday. Goaltender Karel Vejmelka has won each of his last eight starts and has held a stellar 1.99 GAA with a .924% SV% over this stretch.

No. 13 - Edmonton Oilers

Last Week Ranking - 14

The Oilers were riding a two-game winning streak into Week 16 but saw their fortunes flipped. On Tuesday, they fell to the Devils (2-1), then dropped another game in regulation, this time to the Penguins (6-2), on Thursday. However, they bounced back in a big way on Saturday, taking down the Capitals (6-5) in overtime to pick up a much-needed two points.

While Connor McDavid was held off the score sheet in the first two games of the week, the MVP candidate wasted little time snapping a skid, tallying an eye-catching five points (two goals) during Saturday's victory. He has now scored 32 goals and added 58 helpers through 53 games this season.

No. 12 - New York Islanders

Last Week Ranking - 10

The Islanders concluded their Western trip in Week 16. They began the week with a 4-3 victory over the Canucks but would drop their final two games against the Kraken (4-1) and the Sabres (5-0) in their return home on Saturday. Following their dominant stretch before the holidays, they have faced some regression, now carrying a 5-4-1 record over their last 10 games.

Over their last nine games, veteran forward Anthony Duclair has been the heartbeat of the offense, netting eight goals and adding two assists.

No. 11 - Dallas Stars

Last Week Ranking - 8

The Stars have been very inconsistent since coming out of Christmas break, and the trend continued in Week 16. While they began the week taking down the Bruins, who carried a lengthy winning streak into this contest, they were then shut out by the Blue Jackets on Thursday (1-0). They would conclude the week with a 3-2 victory over the slumping St. Louis Blues.

Forward Jason Robertson has continued to light up the score sheet after not being selected to join Team USA in the Olympics. This week, he added three more goals and an assist, and now holds the third-most goals in the entire sport (30).

No. 10 - Montreal Canadiens

Last Week Ranking - 7

The Canadiens began the week with a 4-3 victory over the Minnesota Wild but ended it with two losses to their divisional opponents, the Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins. This brought them to a 28-17-7 overall record and a modest 5-4-1 record over their last 10 contests.

Despite the 1-2 record, star winger Cole Caufield led the way this week, scoring an impressive five goals, including a hat trick, against the Bruins on Saturday night. Caufield has now found the back of the net in five straight games and scored eight total goals over this stretch.

No. 9 - Boston Bruins

Last Week Ranking - 9

The Bruins saw their six-game winning streak snapped by the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night, but wasted little time beginning a new one, as they picked up two straight victories after that. On Thursday, they took down the red-hot Golden Knights (4-3) and then defeated the Canadiens (4-3) in a critical Atlantic Division matchup.

Over their last 10 games, the Bruins have won eight and dropped only two. 27-year-old Morgan Geekie snapped his brief scoring streak by netting three more goals this week, adding to his yearly total of 28.

No. 8 - Pittsburgh Penguins

Last Week Ranking - 13

Pittsburgh showed ample signs of progress last week and put together a perfect 4-0 statement this week to enter the top 10 of our ranking. They took care of business on their four-game western trip, defeating the Kraken, Flames, Oilers, and Canucks in consecutive order and by a combined 19-7 score.

While goaltender Stuart Skinner has seemed to find his footing in the Steel City, forward Evgeni Malkin led the charge this week. The future Hall of Famer punched in three goals and tacked on another two helpers.

No. 7 - Minnesota Wild

Last Week Ranking - 5

The Wild saw their win-loss-win-loss pattern continue in Week 16. They took down the Leafs to open the week, but would fall to the Canadiens on Tuesday night. While they defeated the Red Wings (4-3) on Thursday, their fortunes would flip again on Saturday, as they fell to the Panthers to continue their week.

Despite their overall modest production, their offense lit up the scoreboard this week. Top winger Kirill Kaprizov tallied nine points, while Mats Zuccarello added seven points (two goals). Top defender Quinn Hughes would take on an impressive seven helpers as well. While their recent stretch of play has been underwhelming, their dominant stretch last month keeps them within the top 10.

No. 6 - Buffalo Sabres

Last Week Ranking - 11

The Sabres began the week with a tough 2-1 loss to the high-powered Hurricanes, but finished the week off scoring, picking up all possible points over their last three games. They would defeat the Predators, Canadiens, and Islanders in regulation to add to their point total.

They now sit with a 7-2-1 record over their last 10 games and an elite 29-17-5 overall record. Buffalo is within reach of the Lightning and Red Wings for the division lead and has proven they deserve serious consideration among the top teams in the sport.

No. 5 - Vegas Golden Knights

Last Week Ranking - 4

The Golden Knights entered the week as one of the hottest teams in the sport and were one of our biggest risers. However, they took a step back, following an underwhelming 1-3 showing. Their week began with a tough 2-1 loss to the Flyers on their home ice and would then fall to the Bruins (4-3) in Boston.

They would get back in the win column on Friday, in Mitch Marner's return to Toronto, but would head back to the loss column, as the Senators took them down by a commanding 7-1 score. On Sunday, forward Mark Stone saw his impressive 14-game point streak snapped. During this stretch, Stone scored 12 goals and added 11 assists.

No. 4 - Detroit Red Wings

Last Week Ranking - 6

The Red Wings won three of their four games last week and saw immediate success in Week 16, picking up five of their six possible points, continuing to stand near the top of the Atlantic Division. Their lone loss would come at the hands of the Minnesota Wild (4-3) in overtime on Wednesday night, while their victories would come against the Maple Leafs and Jets.

The Wings carry a stellar 8-1-1 record over their last 10 and stand as top favorites in the Eastern Conference. This week, Lucas Raymond led the way, scoring three goals and adding two helpers over these three games.

No. 3 - Carolina Hurricanes

Last Week Ranking - 3

The Hurricanes continued to roll and picked up five of their six possible points in Week 16. They began the week by defeating the surging Sabres (2-1) on Monday night. While they fell to the Blackhawks in a shootout on Thursday, they got back on track, taking down the Senators (4-1) on Saturday.

The Hurricanes have lost just one of their 10 games in regulation and have picked up seven victories over this stretch. Netminder Brandon Bussi has posted an elite 6-1 record with a 1.72 GAA and a .927% SV% since the New Year.

No. 2- Tampa Bay Lightning

Last Week Ranking - 2

The Lightning ended Week 15 with a 4-1 victory over the Stars and pushed its winning streak to three games by taking down the Sharks and Blackhawks to open Week 16. However, they would fall to the Blue Jackets (8-5) on Saturday night to conclude the week. Nikita Kucherov continued to add to his MVP resume, tallying another eight points with two goals over these three games.

Additionally, goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy has continued to play at a Vezina-level. Over his last 12 outings, the goaltender has posted an incredible 11-0-1 record with a 1.87 GAA and a .919% SV%.

No. 1 - Colorado Avalanche

Last Week Ranking - 1

Colorado showed some "minor" cracks last week and had similar results, but it still holds the spot on our list. They began the week with a 5-2 victory over Washington. However, on Wednesday, they fell to the Ducks in a shootout, then got embarrassed by the Flyers (7-3) on their home ice on Friday night.

On Sunday, Brock Nelson would get them back on track, scoring a hat trick in their victory over the Maple Leafs. Over their last 10, they carry a questionable 4-4-2 record, but they remain the only team that has surpassed the 70-point mark and sit at the top once again.
