NBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks - FanDuel DFS Basketball Advice for 1/21/16

By Keith Allison [CC-BY-SA-2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Scott Z. highlights the top NBA DFS lineup picks for 1/21/16, as well as a couple of sleepers to keep in mind while building your roster on FanDuel.

Absolutely stellar slate of NBA games tonight. Only one game (SAS/PHX) has a spread of over two points. Don't worry about blowouts, starters should be playing all night!

In this article, I will be providing you with Daily NBA picks for FanDuel for 1/21/16. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays.

Good luck and feel free to hit me up on twitter @udontknowziplow with any NBA DFS questions

FanDuel DFS Point Guards

Patrick Mills (at PHX, $3,500)

With Tony Parker already ruled out, Patty Mills will wind up being a very popular choice tonight. Priced at the FanDuel minimum, Mills should be able to fall into 5x value with all the minutes he'll get against the Phoenix Suns tonight. Although this game has the largest potential for a blowout, there aren't really any other point guards on the roster other than Ray McCallum, so Patty's minutes should be safe no matter the result.

I should definitely also mention that the Suns currently own the 29th ranked defense against opposing point guards, so the opportunity to produce is definitely there. Even with starter minutes, I don't really see him reaching even 28 FD points, but that's still over 7x value, and will allow you to fit an extra star into your lineup with all the DFS money you're saving.

Kyrie Irving (vs LAC, $7,200)

His price is still just too low. With the potential to score 50 or more FanDuel points on any given night, I'll roll the dice on Kyrie getting his groove back tonight. This game should stay relatively close all night, and they'll need Kyrie's scoring if they want to keep up with the high powered Clippers offense.

Sometimes big time matchups, like against Chris Paul, can motivate guys a little more - and that's what I'm expecting tonight out of Kyrie. He's reached less than 20 FanDuel points in each of his last two games, so I'm hoping that will drive his ownership down, making him one of the best DFS contrarian plays of the night.

FanDuel DFS Shooting Guards

Devin Booker (vs SAS, $4,300)

Yes, I may have a fantasy crush on Devin Booker. He's on a bad team and has been given the green light to fire away on offense. Unfortunately, the Spurs have one of the best defenses in the NBA by any measure, but just based on pure volume Booker should easily reach DFS value tonight.

Last night against a very legitimate defense in Indiana, Booker tallied 32 points, two assists, and four turnovers for 31 total FanDuel points. If this game is over early, and Booker winds up playing against the Spurs bench team, he could tally some serious DFS production in garbage time.

J.J. Redick (at CLE, $5,600)

J.J. Redick is straight up on fire. Against Houston two nights ago, he went 9-of-12 from three point range on his way to a career high 40 points. I'm going with the hot hand in another big game against Cleveland tonight. This game is going to be close and high scoring, and I expect J.J. Redick to be a big part of that. Per usual, the FanDuel SG player pool is pretty weak, and J.J. looks to be the best of the bunch by a wide margin.

FanDuel DFS Small Forwards

Kawhi Leonard (at PHO, $7,600)

Another big name that's just priced too low. Kawhi is going against one of the worst defenses in the NBA, and I can roster him for under $8,000?! Sign me up. Even though this game will likely not be close, Kawhi will be a big reason why.

He should be able to swipe the ball anytime someone other than Brandon Knight dribbles it past half court, and with Tony Parker out, he'll have to shoulder a bit more of the workload on offense. Hopefully people roster LeBron instead, because I think Kawhi outscores him on FanDuel straight up.

Danilo Gallinari (vs MEM, $7,100)

Gallo has been playing pretty well of late, and has a juicy matchup against Memphis tonight. Never did I think that I would look forward to rostering guys against Memphis, but here we are. Last time Danilo faced off against Memphis this season he dropped 41.1 FanDuel points, tallying 29 real points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

You'll notice a pretty big drop off after Gallinari on the SF list, and it's for a reason - he's only totaled less than 30 FanDuel points once over his last nine games. He's safe and has a high DFS ceiling tonight, so don't over think it.

FanDuel DFS Power Forwards

Paul Millsap (at SAC, $8,700)

Millsap is one of my favorite DFS picks of the night. His Hawks will be playing a Kings team that plays even faster than they do, and plays little-to-no defense. Vegas thinks this game is going to be very close with a spread of only a point, which is even better for Millsap, who will hopefully need to play through the 4th quarter.

I don't think there's really anyone on the Kings who can guard Millsap other than maybe Omri Casspi, so it should be a fun night to be a Millsap owner on FanDuel. I assume the Kings will stick Cousins on Horford, which usually means it'll be the same on the opposite end of the floor. Basically, you won't have to worry about Millsap expending energy on defense trying to contain DeMarcus Cousins - that'll be Al Horford's job.

Ersan Ilyasova (at NOP, $5,800)

Ilyasova is certainly not a sexy name to roster in DFS, but tonight he has a great matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans. He's also been producing 5x value almost every night for the past week. In four out of his last six games, Ersan has totaled over 30 FanDuel points - and tonight he'll be guarded by Ryan Anderson and the 22nd ranked defense against opposing PFs. I think Ersan will be criminally under owned tonight, and will be a great DFS option to differentiate your FanDuel lineups.

FanDuel DFS Centers

DeMarcus Cousins (vs ATL, $10,700)

You had to know this was coming. I've already mentioned I really like the Hawks vs. Kings matchup tonight, and Cousins is reason number one. Last night he totaled a ridiculous 61.7 FanDuel points, and although it was against the Lakers, I'm rollin with Boogie when he's hot. He's reached 60 FanDuel points three times over his last ten games, and in that same span he reached 50 FanDuel points six times. Basically, he is matchup proof, and should be the first one you roster in DFS tonight.

Side note: Hawks are ranked 22nd against opposing centers this year. Fade at your own risk....
